There are reasons for this. The Labour candidate has been a vocal supporter of the fascist Narendra Modi and the BJP. This is the area where there was trouble recently between Muslims and Hindus. They've only got themselves to blame.

Sadly, that ship has sailed.

We can't re-enter the EU on the (very advantageous) terms we had before; any application would involve us jumping through various hoops and would take many years. That's assuming the EU would want us back in, which is by no means a given.

It'll be at least a generation before we could even think of re-joining.

Sadly I believe you are correct. I met many sound UK delegates in my years in Brussels. The brexit vote, albeit democratic, has really alienated UK from the EU. I am afraid that it will take generations before UK is readmitted.
