We ought to have a quick referendum on Brexit again. I'm pretty sure that the results would be very different! The Brexit thing is actually the main problem.
The NHS promises and the appeals to the xenophobia types proved to be false. We're desperate for workers in health and education.
It's not too late to rescue this country before it breaks up.

Sadly, that ship has sailed.

We can't re-enter the EU on the (very advantageous) terms we had before; any application would involve us jumping through various hoops and would take many years. That's assuming the EU would want us back in, which is by no means a given.

It'll be at least a generation before we could even think of re-joining.

Do we reckon this government will even get so far as to have any say on the next round of pay awards?
Would they even want to impose say a 1% rise on public sector workers? Surely that doesn't just mess up the tiny chance they have in an election. It would probably lead to a near wipeout.
You would certainly be looking at something resembling a general strike.

The more I think about it. The more I think it would be best for the Tories to call an election soon. Get it over and done with and see what they have left, and rebuild.
They may need to take a smashing to acknowledged their mistakes and take stock.
Keep going, and tell everyone we are in austrity again, with run away inflation and soaring interest rates. I don't see how you come back from that, for a very very long time.
You would.imagine at least 2 elections to even form some kind of opposition.

I think it's fairly typical weasel words time.

The overall amount of cash might stay the same, so they'll argue 'no cut'. But in real terms factoring in inflation, significant restriction.

I have no idea, but with that kind of result in a council by election, there must be some kind of local issue we know nothing about.
