Repealing the 2nd amendment isn't the will of the American people.
Who exactly is trumpeting repealing and/or taking away guns altogether? What is being asked for is controlling accessibility, requiring consistent background checks, cooling/waiting periods, eliminating certain types of weaponry from society, etc. You can’t go out and buy a land mine…You have to take a test to drive a car…It’s honestly just logical change that IS the will of the American people, and when the only counter argument is to keep going back to the second amendment as an absolute for why we can’t do anything, it’s just idiotic and incorrect.

I support the modern interpretation which involves having background checks and mental health screening, but the 2nd amendment is a protected right for the American citizens. The values of the 2nd amendment is how America was formed and its identity was built on.
The values of compulsory service in order to keep firearms (i.e. serve in a militia) is how this country was formed and is the basis of its identity? May I ask where you studied American history/civics/political science?

The modern interpretation is antithetical to the concepts of the Framers so cannot be "how America was formed" nor the basis of its "identity".

The Second Amendment says nothing about background checks or mental health screening. Right now I could walk across the street and sell my neighbor one of my shotguns and there's absolutely nothing preventing me from doing so. No background check or mental health screening is required.

Although if the interpretation of the second amendment is actually going to be you can't do anything to restrict gun access it really does need to be repealed.

Nor could they apparently transcribe their documents properly, because five different versions were eventually sent to state houses to be ratified. One with all three commas, a couple with some combination of two commas, one with a single comma, and one without any commas. Yet somehow the most important public safety debate in the entire country hinges on parsing commas from 200 year old text to interpret what a bunch of guys who don't appear to even fully know what they meant when they wrote it down, actually meant.
Yet somehow for 200 years virtually all Courts understood the intent.

Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District has more than doubled funding for hardening the school since 2017. Fences. Warning systems. More social workers. Hired a police force... none of it stopped an 18-year-old who wanted to kill children. It's quite likely the shooter wanted to do this when he was 17 but he didn't. Why? He wasn't able to buy the gun yet. A restriction on access delayed the killings. None of the suggestions by the FOX Noise crowd did so.

Lastly, I'd like those gasbags to travel to Uvalde and tell the Nan who was shot that she is a bad parent who has no morals and needs to find God.

Infuriating.

He surely must have used a gun like the one he used before though?

Its not just Americas obsession with guns that is nuts, its the obsession with more police. The answer is always more police. Just think of how much good this money could have done when the police stood by doing nothing but threatning desperate parents
