In addition to the racism and all that these dudes couldn't even structure a freaking sentence in their most important document. Founding fathers get way too much respect.
Nor could they apparently transcribe their documents properly, because five different versions were eventually sent to state houses to be ratified. One with all three commas, a couple with some combination of two commas, one with a single comma, and one without any commas. Yet somehow the most important public safety debate in the entire country hinges on parsing commas from 200 year old text to interpret what a bunch of guys who don't appear to even fully know what they meant when they wrote it down, actually meant.

The state of that.

Police walking round outside with body armour and assault rifles. Scared to go into the school and try and save children.

America in a nutshell that. Insecure cowards wielding military grade weaponry to masquerade as the archetypal "American hero" while lunatics can literally purchase the same thing to murder innocent people.

"Serve and protect" yeah right

Its sickening isnt it..

Not to mention arguing that the solution is strap a firearm to the waist of every teacher. You know, the same teachers who can’t be trusted to select reading material for their students.

Side note…it makes me sad to live in country that’s so fundamentally broken that I even know WTF a “ballistic blanket” is.

They’ll be sending them to school in a tank next. I saw a little American boy on the tv this morning telling how he hid behind his desk during the shooting…it is absolutely sick that’s child has to recall such an event that will stay with him for the rest of his life…..

Yet Republicans are more worried about making sure the whole world knows that their children have suffered irreversible trauma because they had to wear a mask for a few months during the pandemic.

Even if arming teachers really would solve the problem, it's still not a solution that I'm willing to accept. Doing that is effectively conceding that American schools are, in reality, combat zones. As a country we simply have to aspire to better than that.

Lot of cowards too who knew slavery was wrong but didn't have it to tell the slaveholders to do one

It won’t solve anything, and it shouldn’t be on the table for teachers at all. They sign up to educate, not to be in the army reserves.

Biden and the Dems have the power to ban the sale of guns, just change the law….

I don't know the ins and outs of the situation (e.g. when did the police arrive on scene, when did they enter etc.) so can't comment on those specific elements.

But to an extent you're right. In this situation, you'd suspect an outer cordon would have been formed (a picket so to speak). Were they those officers?

During an active operation/engagement, it may feel uncomfortable but you have to show a level of caution - e.g. consider potential suspects.

If they did the above and still did not go in, that's wrong. If these officers have been tasked to contain the situation while others deploy, that's different.

If @riddick's scenario is correct where they stood by as he actively shot kids rather than engaging him, shame on them (the police as a whole).
Am reserving judgment until more facts come out but there are certainly a lot of questions that need answers

And initial police claims do not seem reliable
