I support the modern interpretation which involves having background checks and mental health screening, but the 2nd amendment is a protected right for the American citizens. The values of the 2nd amendment is how America was formed and its identity was built on.
So was a woman’s right to an abortion until three weeks ago. So clearly things can change when politicians really put their minds to something.

So civilized countries in Europe that have had numerous fascist uprisings take place in the last 200 years without any resistance from the people? Sure.

Over 50? I don't believe those figures and I think there's a catch with those numbers.

Repealing the 2nd amendment isn't the will of the American people.

It's called "multi-quote", it's right there when you go to type in 4 different responses.

And I don't think theres a whole lot of America that want this to continue. 2/3 Americans don't own guns. Whether that be for political or personal reasons it's irrelevant. If you asked every American if they would surrender the 2nd Amendment if it meant no more of these mass shootings I guarantee it wouldn't be anywhere close to 50/50.

And funny how you are talking about "fascist uprisings" when there was an attempt only ~17 months ago in this country to do so. Did the "good guys with guns" stop that one? No, they were mostly the ones doing the fascist uprisings.

It’s unlikely that there is majority support for a full repeal. However, there is almost certainly super-majority support for drastically or at least partially scaling it back to make it suitable for modern times with modern weapons.
Yes that's probably true

Quick clarification, is the 2nd Amendment purely about the right to bear arms?

And if thats the case, I'm not sure they had fully automatic AR15's in mind for domestic use.
They didn't have rights for women or minorities in mind so I'm damn sure they didn't have modern technology in sight.

Think its’s interesting that many Republicans who were quite adamant that sending children to school wearing a thin piece of cloth over their mouths had dire psychological effects on their mental health, are now arguing that we should send them to school with bullet proof backpacks and ballistic blankets.
Not to mention arguing that the solution is strap a firearm to the waist of every teacher. You know, the same teachers who can’t be trusted to select reading material for their students.

Side note…it makes me sad to live in country that’s so fundamentally broken that I even know WTF a “ballistic blanket” is.

Here’s the actual text, make of it what you will. Entire volumes have been written about what the placement of the commas mean.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

In addition to the racism and all that these dudes couldn't even structure a freaking sentence in their most important document. Founding fathers get way too much respect.
