Dakota Theriot... barred from purchasing guns due to mental illness.... stole a gun and shot his family. Was never legally able to own a gun.
The Lafayette shooting was with guns normal people could legally own. He should have never been able to enter the theatre.
Once again not backing shootings.
So lets say we ban guns in America. Not a single person can own a gun. What happens then? I can guarantee sick twisted people, gangs, drug cartels will still get them.
What would be your suggestion. (not being a jerk, just trying to have an inciteful conversation.)

Fairly sure in most countries around the world the onus falls upon law enforcement agencies to protect the population, not people to have an arsenal in their basement to protect themselves.

I understand Mr. Wayne. Its just honestly so hard to change Amendments. I like what someone said earlier, maybe a gun limit. I have 3 myself hidden around the house incase a robbery or someone enters my house. I have something to protect my wife and kids. Its just a hard line to draw now with it being law for 200 years and the amount of people that would be in up roar. But if Batman says it, im good with it :)

  1. a minor change or addition designed to improve a text, piece of legislation, etc.
The very name kinda suggests it's designed to be changed :)

This is only true if you are talking complete repeal. I don't think many are...even if they would want that.

There are steps that could be taken short of a total repeal of the amendment - wait periods, background checks, limiting magazine size, etc.

Yeah I think minor things were passed within the past 2 years like no Bump Stocks. Simple things that shut up the masses but not big enough to truly make an impact

The Senate has even allowed the Violence Against Women act to lapse since February - keeping domestic abusers from having access to guns should be one of the most uncontroversial issues ever in a sane world.

The name you are looking for that is easy to change is amendable-ment. We don't have any of those. The name suggests to me that it amends things, which it did.

There is no such thing.

All of the current amendments can be replaced with a new amendment if need be.

Thus changing the current one.

That is the whole point of them. It's what the original signees wanted to. The thing is over time certain ones have been unofficially locked and chosen as gospel and changing them would be unamerican.

Others have been amended and replaced previously.

It's simply a case of a hard road to change one.
