I actually respect the Muslim community because they got their ass together and are still having around 4-5 kids on average which is what most people should be striving for. I think the Christian community needs to take notes and try to emulate this.

There are 7 billion people on a planet that probably can't sustainably feed half of that. Is god going to provide them all with places to live and food and water?

Actually, it's a shade under 8 billion.

A staggering number as it just around 3.5 when I arrived.

You have people like @emir cryarsing about a population crisis, but they're basically flat earthers, they're looking in completely the wrong direction.

We don't have the resources available today to feed an ever growing population. (you could argue we DO, but the way the world is run for the few it will never happen.)

Between the climate crisis and the overpopulation the whole show called life is already in its final act.

All these clowns selfishly pumping out more and more kids is merely accelerating the process.

Drastic measures are needed to have any hope of long term survival, but it's unpalatable.

So yeah, it's done. Shag away, at least you won't be alone on your deathbed.

It's insane to me that people can't see this. I am aware that nothing I do as an individual is going to alter the course we're on but we decided years ago we weren't going to have kids, partially because of overpopulation but mainly because what sort of a world will they have when they're my age? I haven't taken a flight in 4 years and ditched the car too.

Then I read this garbage and wonder why I bothered.

I very much believe adultery is a huge sin but I don't have to necessarily believe or follow the punishment that's prescribed. I don't follow the scriptures word to word, but it gives me guidance which is what I need.
Adultery is wring because it is betrayal and causes strife and division. I dont need scripture to tell me that.

I don't get how anybody can profess to follow scripture but then pick and choose and re-interpret it to suit their lifestyle. My wife works in chemical compliance - a phrase that does her nut is when somebody says a product is "nearly compliant."

I guess in your defence, you must be accepting that the scriptures were written a long time ago eg. When the GLOBAL population was maybe 20 million, and the wisdom of the day, written down by holy men was to breed like rabbits, don't eat unclean pork and stone people who committed crimes. Today we are enormously overpopulated, the planet is groaning under our infestation; pig husbandry has all but eliminated the parasites that made pork a not-understood danger to human health; a judicial system has developed more civilised penal system that values human life.

What I'm saying here is that the scriptures - decent rules at the time written by clerics and claimed to be from a god that transcends time are now outdated and largely not fit for purpose. Why didn't God see that coming? Why doesn't God update these rules? "Thou shalt not check through thou partner's internet search history" or something?

is that it? so you can see a `problem`, but what else have you done with this insight of yours?

this is the main problem with kids today. they perceive themselves as disempowered which leads them to become demoralised and then they lap up victimhood which is totally self-destructive. Jordan Peterson is very aware of this, which is what i believe his book `twelve rules for life` is addressing.

Thing is we are all disempowered. A very few at the top of big business rule the roost - we sell just work and consume for their benefit.

Look at the democracy facade we have lived under since everybody was given a vote around 100 years ago (not just hard done by women like we keep hearing about - even the majority of men who existed below a certain wealth/class) - with the whip system replacing representation with what the PM wants, the mind control and news-choice of the billionaires running the media and now a bunch of elite choosing who the next pm will be.

Mark Twain was correct when he said "if voting made a difference they wouldn't let us do it." We are all disempowered - but most don't realise.

speak for yourself. if you are talking about the freedom to go out and buy a gold yacht then you may be correct but if thats all you aspire to then no-one can help you. J. Peterson is trying to empower people but they would sooner attack him rather than their abusers which is psychological and J.P. is very well aware of this. edit-with all your talk of `personal disempowerment`, have you ever thought you might`ve bought into the victimhood mentality hook line and sinker?
