Like I said, given mitagating factors, however a bit of stability isn't a bad thing. Build a solid foundation then push on again, might be better than rushing to jump up the table and ending up dropping near the bottom again shortly after. Look at Brighton and Brentford, building steadily, now competing with/ahead of us to get into Europe. Imagine what we could do with the same mindset/setup and our stature/size.
The way Brentford and Brighton operate is different to us

if Moyes starts having more influence over recruitment and the average age of the squad keeps rising (we’re already the fourth-oldest squad in the league) the goal can’t just be to get by for a couple more years.

The poll is asking the wrong question.

We can’t go into a season with a manager in his final year. Players will ask in the summer who they’re signing for. Players can down tools on managers they know are going.

The poll should be, new contract for Moyes or new manager as that is the decision facing the Freidkins. There’s a lot of fans ok with another year of Moyes but the reality is it’s probably a choice between another few seasons of Moyes or someone else.
Well I did say before it was made that their should be more options than just a Yes/No decision.
there is a lot to look at that can effect a definitive answer.

Welcome to Everton Soucek and Jarrad Bowen.

David Moyes has a perfect opportunity to secure a new contract for himself by picking teams that are focused on winning the next 3 games and hopefully qualifying for Europe if other results are kind to us.

The end of season run-in should be about going for glory(albeit minor European qualification) and confidence must be high after the rousing second half on Monday night.

If he reverts to Gueye and McNeill in the starting 11 because we are away from home and we play like we did at West Ham then he has signed his own P45 IMO.

Exactly, but we should be aiming to operate more like them imo, and building steadily is one part of that.

Like I said, he get's next year for me. After that yearly based on performance. Another year on the fringes of Europe is fine, more than that and I would be looking at moving on. Tarks, Keane and Gueye have only got a season or two left. More minutes for Rohl. Armstrong coming in. Graham too maybe. Our squad will start getting a bit younger as we go.

Very fair. Genuinely.

I just can't help feeling everyone is going to regret being so fair this time next year...

But as Baz would say as Ped stammers over his gutteral sighs: hey-ho.
Something else that's on my mind is that I would like us to change manager in the off season for a change. One of the reasons we've been lumbered with the managers we've had is that they've been crisis appointments mid-season. They've not been the result of a careful plan aligned with a long term vision for the club. That being said, the last manager we appointed in the off season was Rafael Benitez, so what do I know!

If we’re aiming to operate like them, why keep Moyes?

This isn't a thing.

The average tenure for a Premier League manager is just over 2 years.

Therefore, any manager who has been at a club for a year is - on average - going to leave sometime over the next year or so.

Players deal with managerial uncertainty at basically every single club all the time.
There's a big difference between the idea of nothing being completely certain and a pervading sense of uncertainty though, obviously. Moyes is an old school manager - in more ways than one - and there aren't many of them left, if he goes at the end of next year there's likely to be a significant change in the way the club operates so it's not easy to sell a long term plan to players if that's the case. That's not how it works when you're talking about a manager just potentially losing their job in general.

That's a really good and valid point

We finished 6th the last time Moyes went into a season having not signed a contract, which was an improvement on the previous 3 seasons.

Who was the last team to go from relegation battles to a sustained period of success? Manchester city in the days you were allowed to spend money to get there. We all want a period of success but getting there is more difficult than ever, there's financial rules in place to stop that sort of thing.
Aston Villa surely?

Even Newcastle have won a pot. Crystal Palace too very recently.
