I still have yet to hear anyone in the MAGA world piece together a coherent theory as to why exactly the Democrats would rig the election against Trump but not bother taking the Senate, lose ground in the House, and lose ground in the state legislatures (in a redistricting year, no less). It’s just an altogether moronic claim.

Kasich has always seemed like a decent guy. He’s just saying what we all have, but he’s spot on here.
I agree. He has the nerve to criticize Trump's behavior like very few in his party have dared to do so. So it is not him the one who is scared about speaking out. If his Republican counterparts had as much decency and respect for the Republic as he does then we wouldn't be dealing with all the false narratives that Trump has promoted the past four years. Mcconnell and company are the spineless.

There's a quote I like, I've no idea who said it.
"to the oppressor, equality feels like oppression"
That's what's going on here. The civil war never ended for some people and the elevation of a black man to the role of president stirred up a nasty underbelly that never really went away.
The only way the majority of Trump supporters are disenfranchised is that they are being made to share America and they don't like who they have to share it with.
Come on 77 you are as bad as them if you say the only responsibility Obama has for Trump’s presidency his his skin colour. 70 million racist basket of deplorables is it?

Presumably so, as they're not opposing immigration on the traditional "they're taking our jobs" basis. They're lamenting the loss of "the American way of life," which tends to refer to an earlier age of unabashed white privilege and stricter race control generally. They're not objecting to the fact that healthcare costs are the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in America, but to hearing conversational Spanish at the donut shop.

Call it false consciousness if you like, but in the USA class conflict has usually been channeled into racial prejudice as a means of social control.
Yes and that’s buying into that control. A right wing system absolutely thrive off social divisions. And saying most 70 million trump supporters are racially motivated perpetuates that.

It’s extremely right wing to class everyone a racist (or some social derogatory term) that voted against you’re candidate. Start doing that and you can’t say it’s unfair when the other side group all you in with a derogatory term and reason you vote the way you do. It’s unfair fair for them to do that also no matter what BS polls or statistics they come up with.

I agree with some of this, but honestly if there isn’t enough evidence at this point to say that a large % of the white right wing vote in the US is racist I don’t know how you could ever describe them otherwise.
