Still think its a pretty narrow Biden win but don't see the landslide some are predicting. Think the polls are over estimating the Biden vote. Lots are backing Biden because hes not Trump basically, and thats fine, but it means some might bother turning out in the end because they aren't that enthusiastic.

I also imagine there is a bit of a shy Trump thing going on in the states like the shy Tory idea we have here. The 92 general election makes me think if something similar could be at play with Trump where people switch or make their mind up on polling day. Incumbents tend to benefit with this.

I think there's been too much early voting though for that to actually help Trump win but it will stop Biden getting a landslide. I'm starting to have a sneaky feeling that Florida may buck the trend this time too where Trump holds on there but loses the election.

Florida went very GOP in 2018 when virtually everywhere else went blue.

Florida going to Florida.

I've used the NHS under Browns rule and used it under Mays rule - neither experience was any different.

For me people take politics too seriously look at people talking about civil war under Corbyn being suspended for example.

Big business decides policy not us plebs thinking our golden ticket at the ballot will make or break our lives depending on which rich fella we vote in.

Life for the poor aint getting any better regardless of who wins out of Trump or Biden - thats just how it is.

The only thing that is slightly different is the response to Covid - but in general terms my life doesnt hinge on this election or our next general one.
One party is actively trying to take away healthcare coverage so forgive me if I call this bollocks.

Despite switching off from American politics I am looking forward to the result of this.

Seems Americans are still putting too much stock on who is more popular as a candidate , or better yet it could be a cardboard box and they would be overwhelming favourite.

Biden will win , the young vote will swing it this time around no doubt. But brace yourself for 4 more years of trump as well, because clearly he will have support far more than America believe themselves.

Nothing ever changes though mate - you have to ask yourself the questions:

Will Biden bring in sensible gun legislation - nope

Will race relations finally improve in the US - nope

Will Biden sort out the pandemic when countries with much stricter actions like Spain/Italy haven't been able to realistically get it under control? Not for me considering the US people love their liberty and wouldn't accept draconian Spanish cops pistol whipping them for daring to go out doors to exercise during a lockdown.

Will the poor get any richer? - nope

Will universal healthcare come in? - highly unlikely

Therefore what exactly is the great succes of a Biden win? other than not having a clown as a leader spouting rubbish on twitter?

Sure it feels good to get rid of Trunp but little to nothing ever changes for most of us in the grand scheme of things regardless of who holds the title of leader.

A virus has changed my life more in 9 months than government/prime minister's have in the last 2 decades...

I'm pretty cynical about this sort of thing too and the fact that not much ever changes. In Britain, I dont think much does change.

But I dont think its really for us to say exactly how those in the states should feel. We are only interested onlookers and don't really have a clue how life in the states is at the minute.

You are not reading what I wrote.

In the middle of a pandemic the GOP are trying to remove preexisting conditions protections in healthcare.

If that was the ONLY thing in the election, and it isn’t, it would still be a huge deal.

I’ve lived in both the UK and US - there are similarities but you honestly have no idea until you live here of the quite huge differences.

Exactly. Additionally, if Trump wins and nothing is done to balance out the Supreme Court, you’ll also be looking at women and LGBT people losing a ton of their hard won rights. Sometimes simply stopping the bleeding counts as a great success.

Which is the democrats' entire policy in a nutshell

Not to mention I live in a city with a huge immigrant (both legal and illegal) population - early Obama/Biden wasn’t great on immigration but it wasn’t the festering hellhole that Trump has made it.

btw, I'd rather have Biden in (but, I mean, it's the lesser of two dreadful options) - not that I have a say.

But there'd be no surprise if Trump gets back in, for me.

Me either. At this point, ten months into the year where Murphy’s Law came to life, part of me is almost expecting it.
