Neither of those assertions are true.

Might just be me then but literally nothing has changed in my life having lived under Blair, Bush, Obama, Brown, Cameron, Bojo Trump etc.

And I can guarantee nothing will change for me when Starmer gets into downing street next election either.

Modern politics is a way for people to still feel like they have some control/influence on things when in reality us plebs will always be plebs regardless of which rich bloke is in power.

In most years you would probably just about be right. However, this time around there will be some tangible and immediate differences based on who wins. At this moment, our president, and thereby the country has its collective head buried in the sand with regards to COVID. If Biden wins, we will at least start taking it seriously by mid-January. Is he going to make it go away overnight? Obviously not, but I’m highly confident he’ll at least put forth an effort. As it stands right now, Trump is actively making things worse on a daily basis by holding 4-5 dumbass super-spreader rallies.

Trump has been the catalyst for the rise of the far right on both sides of the pond, and also for blatant and demonstrable lies in politics in general to become somehow acceptable to many.

I became an adult in the Thatcher era, if you think there was no discernible difference between living under the rule of that rancid old hag and Blair, then I make you plain wrong.

The idea that it doesn’t matter is perpetuated by people who aren’t paying attention imo.

Yeah? You haven’t used the NHS in that time? Or accessed any part of the civil service?

If so, you’re either very fortunate or you’re one of those “rich blokes” you talk about.

I would also say that it's pretty much game over as far as the environment is concerned should he get another 4 years. Which will affect everyone on the planet.

I've used the NHS under Browns rule and used it under Mays rule - neither experience was any different.

For me people take politics too seriously look at people talking about civil war under Corbyn being suspended for example.

Big business decides policy not us plebs thinking our golden ticket at the ballot will make or break our lives depending on which rich fella we vote in.

Life for the poor aint getting any better regardless of who wins out of Trump or Biden - thats just how it is.

The only thing that is slightly different is the response to Covid - but in general terms my life doesnt hinge on this election or our next general one.
