The only reasons he wants to keep the job are 1) he's got huge debts coming due in next 4 years and people are more likely to be lenient on him if he's still POTUS and can do stuff for them and 2) a 2nd term will take him past the statute of limitations on a bunch of his crimes

Well yeah, I probably agree with that too... but not wanting it in the first place is different from not wanting to keep it now. For one thing, he hadn't committed those specific crimes at that point
