The 2 years since Martinez left.

Good stats, for me no to El Fraud. OK ,he had Barkley and Lukaku on song, but we were sinking, like Wigan. He did have an eye for a signing, and did well with Lukaku. But FM, Alcaraz, McCarthy, Kone, and the fella that went to Watford who's name escapes me right now shows that's not much of hit-rate. I thought Robles could have established himself though.Every time I think McCarthy is gonna come good he's injured : (

So right now we're in Spurs mode who also went through managers whilst looking for the right formula and manager. Hopefully we'll not be playing catch-up by the time the new stadium's built.

Interesting point though - and highlights again the waste of last summer in our development..
If you call an Everton a manager who got us a points total that wont be beaten for another generation at this rate "El Fraudo", how do you describe the last manager who spent £300M to make us as rubbish as he was a manager?

To be fair, its easier to take the mick in Spanish than it is in Dutch Dave.

Useless Dutch Clog hasnt the same ring about it. But it will have to do I guess.

I'm confused...so Martinez has what I thought was the worst home record in the history of the club...yet he gets praised for his away record? He has 47 points in back to back years, yet he only gets credit for 1 year with 72 points (that we finished 4th)?

Guess I'm missing something, I thought we wanted to do BETTER than 47 points in a season.

Ha.

I was just curious why the Koeman, who has UNDOUBTEDLY been the most toxic manager in the history of the club and one who portrayed himself as something he was palpably not, seems to get away with a shrug of the shoulders from some - some who think that a man who bought into the club in a big way and who actually made some return on the relatively small financial backing deserved to be ridiculed as a "a fraud".

I wonder why that term is applied to him by some? Just repetitive laziness I expect, because it's nonsensical.

Dunno mate.

I guess maybe that Martinez has some defenders (sic) on here, The Clog has none.

Not even that he was on 44 when he was sacked.

I think Koeman's got away with murder, by and large.

Too many people bought into him as 'the answer/antidote' and were found out. I expect that might contribute to the fairly easy time he gets...that sense of embarrassment.

Imo he has damaged us for a decade. and stands hands down as the very worst appointment there's ever been. He's hollowed us out as club to make most observers question our identity, and he's wasted the type of precious cash we'll not see spent again in such volume probably ever.

I detest the man. Although I understand why the embarrassment of the majority who backed his appointment doesn't allow them to shuffle foward and feel the same way.

Stopped being a fan of Bobs midway in the second season and rightly so...but I have to give credit where its due. He did indeed buy into the club, He did improve the old dogs of war mantra and with a better squad we may have actually achieved something great. Seeing what has happened after he left, I cant help thinking that it was the players lacking personality and leadership qualities and it still does. If that is indeed the case it wont matter who the next manager is....far more important now is getting a spine running through the side that actually cares how the club is percieved and plays.
I finally understand what you have been crowing on about for 3 seasons and I agree with nearly most of it.

Hi mate

Cheers mate.

As I said, Everton's away record in the last 25 years is not something to compare to as a claim that Martinez had a good away record. Looking at last season, teams with 5 or more away wins:

Southampton - 6 wins, came 8th
Crystal Palace - 6 wins, came 14th
West Ham - 5 wins, came 11th

Except for the first season, Martinez had a very ordinary away record and in 15-16 an absolutely pathetic home record.

Doesn't get an easy ride from me. Said it before I'm more ashamed I ever backed Koeman than I would be backing Allardyce, I've never seen anything quite as bad as that "team" he put together in his 3 transfer windows. Atalanta away was when I fully woke up, Koeman was the worst manager we've had in the past 50 years.

What sometimes surprises me about managers is how inflexible they become as they settle into a job.

As this is about RM I had a quick look at the results and fixtures for season 2015/2016 leading up to his dismissal.
Up to Christmas and even beyond the season was average.. not brilliant... but certainly not sackable territory.

Then, it went horribly wrong, we only picked up something like six points out of thirty leading up to his sacking and every game we looked like rabbits in the headlights.
It got to the stage that not only could we not defend(which was never great under RM) but now we could not create or attack either.

It surprises me sometimes that managers just keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome(definition of stupidity).
I wonder if RM or indeed RK brought in new coaches with different ideas if the horrendous slides could be halted.

I know Dave has always defended RM and in many ways I thought he had a lot to offer but there was no doubt in the final weeks and months of his time the club was out of control.

Inappropriate Language
Tim Cahill ! Thierry Henry ! How dare they suggest that Everton fans were impatient about Martinez! Who the f*** do they think they are?! What have they ever done in the game of football? I ask you! Whereas we the fans …. we....erm .... well,we....erm ... Look, its obvious, we just know better than them, we just do! And while I'm at it - its all Kenwright's fault! Aargh!
