Summer transfer window.

We didn’t buy him as a midfielder, not a chance I remember us buying him and clearly he was CB. I don’t know the stats but I’d bet he played CB more than in midfield for Sheffield Utd.

Pretty sure Moyes bought him thinking he was a goalkeeper mate seeing as he played there.

Jags was mainly a midfielder for Sheff Utd . I seen an interview with Warnock saying that he spoke to Moyes when he signed him and said he’s a very good midfielder but is outstanding at cb and would be one of the best in the league .

I do remeber jags making his debut in midfield if memory isn’t playing up

I think we need a statman or AI to work this one out as we seem to be split on opinion.

Though remember we are talking about Moyes who isn't exactly adverse to playing players in different positions.

My memory is shot so I’ve tried looking it up. I think friendly debut was sub at CB for Joseph Yobo. Competitive debut as sub in 3-1 win at Spurs, came on for Victor Anichebe - I couldn’t swear to position :). First start at RB in 2-1 win at Bolton and then played full next game at DM in 1-0 loss home to Man U?

Sounds pretty standard for Moyes.
Without actual defined positional tags we could be stuck on quite alot of players..

Jagielka was a midfielder when we bought him, Moyes turned him into one of the best defenders in the league.

I went to Transfermarkt and searched Jags. Checked his positions at Sheffield United and almost all were at CB.

Not something im keen on joining the discussion on but:

As for summer transfers, I think obviously alot will depend on europe.

With europe we'll extend the likes of Gana & Keane. Also probably keep players that we should really be selling, just for the numbers.

Without Europe we need to move on a few and replace them with top quality that can take us up a level along with one or two u21s.

We need to be building a squad of players. Top players in the 11 and young players who can push them for their places and eventually replace them.

Yobo played in midfield so did Hietinga. He played 250 games for shef Utd , he didn’t play the majority in midfield. And in his last season at shef Utd in tbe prem he was down as a CB and wore number 6. We were buying a defender not a midfielder

It was a different conversation though, which isn't a bad thing when you have rotating door in here..

You need the odd random topic to break the noise.

Does it, where?

Id loose money that he didn't play right back or central midfield as opposed to centre back.

6 is also a midfielder - traditionally. 4/5 are centre halves.

Change it from 06/07 to all seasons.

That shows he only played a handful of games.

What you posted is flawed mate, because it doesn't take into account he had two spells at Sheff Utd before and after Everton - he was obviously a centre half in his second spell at Sheff Utd after establishing that as his position here - not before.

All seasons spans two spells, before and after Everton. ;)
