Summer transfer window.

Out:

  • Seamus ( please dude, go. C'mon club legend, it's done now ). No impact, just taking a squad place and salary.
  • £20m McNeil. Useful, likeable, gassed after 1hr. Dibling to show up.
  • £10m Keane . Nuff said, good luck fella
  • £10m Patterson. Age on his side, learn to cross fella.
  • £15m Charly, reluctantly... Not getting game time for whatever reason. Shame, right he could do more. Harrison comes in.
  • £25-30m One of prob Beto or Barry, I like both in attitude, Barry younger obvs.
That's 80m and half those guys either aren't kicking a ball ( or very often, or very well). Would replace with 1 x quality FB 40m, promising cover 20m and CB cover 20m), pocket Seamus salary towards a striker...

Last season:

  • Gana ( fine for tying games up in the last 30 mins/ injury cover ) Rohl to grow up
  • Tim Iroegbunam. Time to shine fella in Gana position,or move on. Use the chance or lose it, or becomes that kinda nothing utility role that I feel never benefits anyone or their own career
  • Possibly Tarks, or he stays on as injury cover. Done us proud mostly in dark times. Maybe 2 seasons max

So with at least a season of Illy, Tyrique to get a run, that improves us and gives cover everywhere.

Question is Jack... and I'd use that money and the spare Seamus salary for a decent CF and anyone interesting we can nab off the bottom three .. Forest are up the eyeballs with what they've spent.

That’s not because Armstrong is a winger or wide player it’s because Moyes has this strange obsession of starting off young players not in their right positions , he’s spent his youth career and the 50 games he’s played for derby and Preston in midfield.
Was jags and yobo centre midfielders ? Or lescott a left back or Arteta a wide player. All players Moyes played out of position in their early days at Everton
Jagielka was a midfielder when we bought him, Moyes turned him into one of the best defenders in the league.

We didn’t buy him as a midfielder, not a chance I remember us buying him and clearly he was CB. I don’t know the stats but I’d bet he played CB more than in midfield for Sheffield Utd.

Keane's out of contract at the end of the season. We won't be getting a fee for him if he leaves. I suspect he'll get another twelve months in any case.

100% a defensive midfielder, who could play as a utility.

One of his first games as a centre half came against Arsenal and he got mullard on here as "not a centre half" - was close enough to Xmas if my memory is right.

He started his career at Everton playing in midfield and was dreadful, just couldn`t keep up with what was going on around him.

He was also a very capable goalie too.

It was another one of Moyes lucky escapes, same as when he initially bought Fellani to as a box to box midfielder.

I think you might have replied to the wrong post.

So out of his 254 games at sheff Utd how many did he play in midfield???
Because I’d expect the majority of he was classed as a defensive midfielder
