Summer transfer window.

What you posted is flawed mate, because it doesn't take into account he had two spells at Sheff Utd before and after Everton - he was obviously a centre half in his second spell at Sheff Utd after establishing that as his position here - not before.

All seasons spans two spells, before and after Everton. ;)

what position did phil jagielka play for sheffield united before everton signed him?

Before joining Everton in 2007, Phil Jagielka was a highly versatile player for Sheffield United, initially playing as a midfielder before transitioning into a regular center-back role, while also covering at right-back. He was known for his adaptability and even filled in as a goalkeeper during a match.

Key details regarding his positions at Sheffield United:
Initial Role: Started his senior career as a midfielder.
Transition: Shifted to right-back and eventually settled into a central-defender role between 2002 and 2006.
Versatility: Capable of playing across the defense and in midfield.

Does it, where?

Id loose money that he didn't play right back or central midfield as opposed to centre back.

6 is also a midfielder - traditionally. 4/5 are centre halves.
20 years ago 4 was a midfielder a lot of the time, now it’s 6 is a defensive midfielder

Come on mate - we lived through it we dont need AI or Transfermarkt we watched it with our eyes - we saw him develop in the position here over months!

AI proabably grabbed it form here, im sure no one else in the world is talking about Jagielka 06/07.

He played mostly as midfielder and right full before here - im not saying he never played as a centre back - but we definitely didn't sign him as a centre back.

That’s nonsense I can remember signing him and it was a CB

I defo haven't ruled out the strong idea of you being wrong though mate, so that's a stumbling block all things considered.

We went onto that season with Lescott, who played at LB, yobo and Stubbs, who was ageing and the club let him go in tbe January after not playing many games. I’m not convinced Moyes was happy with 2 CB and a 3rd who was over the hill and them happy to let him go in January

You dont need to be convinced he said this at time:

"We are delighted to have got him in the end. He will bring competition for places and versatility.

"He is a good addition to our squad and we hope to add one or two more before the start of the season."

*Note the word centre half not used.

Moyes will constantly go for versatility and what he’s says is no surprise at all. and even play players out of position who’s never played in them positions at a previous club, he’s famous for it
