Good points Neiler, when we were drawing a lot against teams like Birmingham and Wigan etc I just wondered if we were being out muscled and whether we missed the sort of player who could break it up and add a bit of bite to the team, is he that sort of player or as you say someone like Graveson who can spray it around? Perhaps if you can have that sort of player doing that it allows the Osmans and Artetas to roam forward and add the killer touch. Charlie Adam would be great for us but I guess we may be priced out of that one. Will be interesting to see whether he comes or not.

It will be intresting to see how Adam fairs without him to be honest mate. He very often gives Adam the platform to play that Charlie may not get at another club. Adam is woefull at keeping pocession and very often gives it away cheaply part of the reason hes been as good as he has been is because of Vagham, think Pienaar and Baines - they complement each other well. To be honest hes more like Graveson then say Carsley, hes not a true destroyer sitting deep, he more presses and closes down players or the ball rather then sitting deep as a shiled or marking space - great energy and legs as i say.

I think the problem with a lot of the "Free Transfers" mentioned is the wages they will want. I think we have a structure at Everton where the top earners are on about £55,000 a week (Arteta, Cahill, etc) and the lads on a free will be after at least double that and they will probably get it at; Stoke, Newcastle, Sunderland, Spurs, etc.

Some of the younger lads who are on a free might be an option and David Vaughan, as he has come from a lower level with Blackpool. But the likes of Klose, and other well established players, I think we will have to forget about.

Atleast double £55k a week? Unless they're signing for Man City they wont just expect over £100k a week! They certainly wont get it at Newcastle, Stoke, Sunderland or Spurs! Pretty sure Newcastle have a 30k limit, Spurs have a very strict wage structure too and Sunderland are broke.

Billy Jones

from wikipedia

Ability
One of Jones' notable abilities is his influence on the players around him.[1] He is also considered a strong tackler and despite his lack of pace, the English defender makes up for it in his ability to read the game.

Not what we need at RB, he`d be no better than Hibbert

=================

Providing Bill gets his finger out, and we can afford their wages and signing on fee's (how depressing) then there are quite a few on there i'd hope we'd be looking at.

We could benefit if we signed Vicente, Klose, Altintop, Trochowski, Elmander, Larson, Taiwo, (final a cover for Bainesy) Pirlo, or Ziegler.

Obviously we are not going to get all of them, but I'd be disappointed if we don't at least try them.

Trochowski is already signing for someone, I forget who but it's another german club I think. Would take Klose, Elmander, and Larsson. Moyes seriously has to have been making moves with some of these lads knowing how skint we are.

I think hes of to Madrid or Sevillia mate, would have been a great signing.

We're still going to be shopping in the bargain bin. If we sign anyone it will be along the lines of Nugent, Vaughan or Jones rather than Klose, Altintop or Mexes.

Spurs wage structure is so strict they offered Pienaar 60k plus to polish the bench with his arse.
