Dodged a bullet there mate. Doesn't have the pace for the prem. Scored 12 goals I think this season but notice he did sweet FA in the other seasons. Turned on the effort when his contract was coming up. We dont need players like that.

You're damn right to be fair. Had a shocking start to his Bolton career, although I think they played him on the wing a bit

Surely we will be getting in someone on a free though

Not quite as free as they look unfortunately. Salary demands are higher as the club does not have to shell out a transfer fee.

If I remember correctly I read somewhere that a 'free transfer' generally costs 75-80% of the combined transfer/salary expense involved in buying a player in contract. Players will let their contracts run down as if there is any demand for them, it generally represents a personal windfall/wage rise.

There's the odd example of sh*tehawks and the perenially injured who can't get a club for love nor money; Saha for instance, but even then at renewal time his salary requirements will have factored in that Everton didn't pay anything for him

Good point

I seem to recall Sol Campbell demanding mega wages as he moved "for free" to Arsenal

Imagine it, Everton Summer 2011 - The year we can't afford Bosmans! =(

Look at Joe Cole, £100,000 a week wages and a £5m signing on fee, apparently.

Free signings generally aren't free, but they do represent a bargain because more often than not you'll get them at a fraction of the price you would if they were a year into a 4 year contract.

Please NOT Keane.
This what he said.

If the rumours about Baines materialise, then Taye Taiwo the Nigerian left back from Marseille would be a good replacement especially on a free transfer.
He signed with AC Milan.

Id have Westwood before Gilks to be honest.
Have no idea who Westwood is, but Gilks is terrible. I would rather get Boaz Myhill from WBA, as they are supposed to sign Kuszczak.

And I am in "pro-Vaughan" from Blackpool camp as well. Not so high about Larsson, set pieces aren't everything,

I'd probably take Owen, thinking about it.

The last ostracised, injury-prone United striker we got wasn't too bad now, eh?

Am I also correct in thinking he was an Evertonian as a kid?
