Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

I'm obviously over-sensitive. No offence taken. Apologies.

I don't actually disagree with you. A genuine football supporter, to me, knows plenty about football across the world. But then, I'm a cosmopolitan kind of fellow who can identify his Fluminenses from his Flamengos and his 1.FC Kölns from his 1.FC Kaiserslauterns. It's just that I have often been disappointed by what I have found in other football supporters. Many lack the kind of knowledge people like you and I take for granted and enjoy. I'm just too much of a football nerd and have realised most football fans aren't like me at all. Lucky for them, I suppose.

So, yes, what I would call a "real" supporter will know us. But the amount of people who occasionally go to matches here in Germany and identify with a particular club who wouldn't know about Everton would surprise you. It did me.
Yeah you are probably spot on with that, I grew up not letting anything get past me in the world of football so maybe it is harder for me to understand it.

Stuttgart have a bigger ground. It holds just above 60k. They have over 100k members. They are a very big club in Germany mate and have won stuff recently. Plus they play in Europe. Hoenes is one of the most high regarded managers in football right now and there will be bigger clubs circling than Everton. Over here we have this misconception that everyone watches the premier league. In Germany, and I’ve been to lots of games and grounds over there, ones I’ve spoke to don’t watch or pay attention to the premier league.

I remember having a conversation with St. Pauli fans and they asked who I supported in England. I told them Everton. They had never heard of us. Had to show him a picture of Goodison park and where my seat was in the gwladys street(when I had a season ticket) outside of the sky 6, we aren’t that well known over there.
Yeah but that's why their supporters wouldn't move. Why wouldn't a manager move when they could move to a team at a significantly bigger league, a lot more money involved everywhere and the whole "test themselves" thing.

Stability and Progress are like two sides of the same coin, but they’re doin’ completely different jobs for the club.

Stability is your bedrock. It’s about makin’ sure the club doesn’t go tits up and keeps its head above water.

This is where you’ve got a boss stickin’ around for the long haul—5 to 10 years. You’re buildin’ a dynasty, not just lookin’ for a quick fix.

It’s about havin’ a proper identity from the Academy kids right up to the first team, and keepin’ the books balanced so the taxman isn’t knockin’.

You know what you’re gettin’ every Saturday.

Progress is about smashin’ through the ceiling. It’s not enough to just be alright, you want the silverware and the glory.

If things have gone a bit stale, progress means havin’ the stones to swap the manager for someone even better. It’s about findin’ that elite tactical mind to take you from middle to top four to top of the world.

Spendin’ the dough on world-class players, top-tier sports science, and makin' the stadium a fortress that generates serious wedge.

It’s about ambition and takin' risks to grab those trophies.

If you’ve got stability but no progress, you’re just spinnin’ your wheels in mid-table, bored out of your mind.

If you’ve got progress with no stability, you’re just a flash in the pan before it all goes south.

You need the foundation to stay alive, but you need that ruthless drive to be the best.

I do
Well, I live in Berlin and we're not a household name.

FC Ever-un as they call us are seen as a bit of a "traditionsverein" - traditional club - with a tradition of making up the numbers these last 40 years.

Yes, the diehard German football supporter will know us - but in a similar way to English football supporters knowing Werder Bremen. We're really not on the mainstream radar like "Chelsea London", "Arsenal London", and Jürgen Klopp FC.

Would a Stuttgart coach come to FC Ever-un? Yes. We are a Premier League club. While Germany has more "big clubs" than England does - Stuttgart being one of them - the money and glamour is in England. That is our biggest advantage right now. When the glamour of the club name alone is enough of a draw, you'll know the Friedkins have been transformational owners.

Some people can't accept the reality that we are not relevant anymore.

Across the world people will know more about Leicester than us.

Is the ‘g’ missing on your keyboard?

Because he can continue doing a great job at Stuttgart, literally wait for the Bayern, dortmund or lepizig job. Chances are he’ll end up in England but at one of the sky6 clubs. Outside of the sky 6 jobs, if your highly regarded manager whose accomplished, your only waiting for the sky 6 jobs.

I know it’s hard for people to process but in Europe the premier league isn’t as big as it’s made out apart from clubs who regularly play in Europe. Clubs like us, won’t be regarded as big clubs. We are looked at as just making up the numbers. It’s just like majority of football fans in this country won’t realise how good of teams are like Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Villarreal, real Betis, como, Roma and etc.

Also add Wrexham to that list.

Yes historically we might be a big club. But at the height of the premier league boom, we’ve been mainly rubbish. We are looked at as a joke club in this country by “influencers”

A lot of our fanbase needs to accept reality but they don’t.

Genuine question, to anyone really..What have TFG done to make you believe they would appoint and back an ambitious manager?
There's no need for them to do that if the 'real' plan was...

Buy us up for 20p(?) on the pound
Consolidate us higher up in the PL
Get the coffers / balance sheet filled up / healthy
Flog us on for about £1.6(?) Billion

State of this world, if a club is now decided by a YouTuber

It is sad but unfortunately people tune into them and people listen to those opinions and run with it.

But the reality is, it’s kind of true about how we are as a club. We’ve won one trophy in the last 35 years, the highest we’ve finished is 4th in the league, we’ve been to one final and lost and been in relegation battles.

It’s great having a great history but it means nothing in the now. We’ve been overtook by Chelsea and Man City. Villa, Newcastle and spurs have played more champions league football than us. Spurs and Newcastle have won more than us in recent times. We are fighting for European places with Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth currently.

We’ve been that badly ran over the past 35 years, the truth is, we’ve fell that far behind and gonna be a long fix. This is a club that took a lesser sponsorship deal so we could get 2m in the door to sign Francis Jeffers on loan and keep the lights on.

It’s about time our fan base accepted reality and realise this isn’t going to be an over night fix. We are playing catch up to clubs like Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth who are reaping the awards of been well run clubs.

Hopefully one day we start acting like the big club we say we are and win trophies and compete again.

Yeah I get you mate, just for some reason it hit a nerve. Not even on the subject of our failings, more the subject of lack of football knowledge in 'Supposed' Football fans. but that's my bad..

I realise sport nowadays is massively a FOMO subject to grab on to..
