Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

Moyes is a very competent manager which is why our form has improved over the last 12 months.

He has made a rod for his own back though by sticking with McNeill who is massively underperforming and JOB at right back. But given his options, he’s gone for tried and trusted first because that’s the kind of manager he is.

His issue for me right now is simple: he failed to adapt to the situation caused by absentees:

1/ no idea of how to set up to get the best out of what he had in terms of changes to formation.

2/ never took seriously from the summer bringing through players like Aznou and Dibling to make them able deputies in the knowledge that for sure Afcon was coming...and failed to recognise that Armstrong should have been retained in the summer due to that looming exodus.

There is no hiding place for Moyes. All our current woes land at his doorstep.

Come on Dave. Low Lying Fruit? Really? We all would have snapped someones hand off at the start of the season if we'd been promised 60 points.
We spent cash and loaned a world class player and we have the boost of a new stadium and new owners.

Asking for 4 more wins in this lousy league is low hanging fruit, yes.

We have half the total now, its low lying fruit to get 60 points when better players get back on the pitch.

The dumbing down of Everton fans expectations is the problem here: see are all too willing to go along with the manager's lack of ambition for his own ends.

If we hit 60pts this this season, than that is a pretty big improvement on where we were, however you paint it.
If Moyes stays next season and hit around that points total than he would be handing over the keys with a well done job.

That is not lack of Ambition, that's a platform build.

If he goes in the Summer, I would still say he's done a good 18month shift.

How he does things can be very infuriating at times, the lack of obvious positions that needed addressing is very frustrating.

No matter how it goes, I want proper time spent on finding the right fit to come in and bring us some blood pumping football..

We have a pretty decent first 8 on the teamsheet, we need to atleast double that amount just to get us some good squad depth.

We also need to make our ground a fortress..

Iraola-ball is what's needed at that stadium.

I've said this consistently for years but how many points you get in any given season is only relevant in the context of that season. It's not some weird inexplicable quirk of fate if you need more points to finish 10th one season than you did the season before, it's just a sign that points are easier to come by. In the last 2 seasons we've finished 12th and 13th in terms of points won, we can't drop down to 15th and say we're getting better because we got more points, that's not how it works.

His stock is certainly high but how would you have reacted to the 11 game winless streak they went on this season playing Iraola-ball?

I'd have known that his methods are sound and waited for stability to return. Others might have pissed their kecks and demanded he be sacked like.

What team has that EVER?

You're making ample excuses here but none of them are valid.
I can't remember any League winning side having a deplorable injury/suspension/unavailable record like we've had in the past month.

What am I making excuses for? I'm commenting on your low lying fruit (60pt) statement.

I'm not sure about that.

At this point in time we don't know if TFG are here to provide ongoing investment in the playing staff to bring success

or they have other motives.

I'd wager that he would be far better supported financially by Everton than Palace
Taking £43million out of the Club 12 months after buying us sounds like an annual investment dividend sort of motive to me.
But I might be misjudging them

🤣

We just played a team that beat us with worse problems than we have now.

Anyway, carry on with your excuses.
