Succession Planning - Managerial Wishlist

Nice achievement don't get me wrong but I wouldn't describe it as an over achievement with the players he has at his disposal. I've said before that Carsley is a great coach of youth teams but I don't think he would want the pressure and media scrutiny of a Premier League job because of his personality and family situation. Its telling that at the age of 51 he's not had any club job and his only job with any pressure was his interim spell at England where he never gave me the feeling he was chasing the job. Leave him where he's happiest coaching younger players without scrutiny
Yeah all fair points, I still think winning two tournaments back to back at a European level is overachieving. You may be right about his preferences, I don't know and no one will know unless he's specifically asked. However if TFG are going to put Moyes upstairs then I would definitely consider him.

Seen this mentioned previously, what exactly would Moyes do 'upstairs' so to speak, I don't really see a role for him myself.

They won't put Moyes upstairs, what incoming manager wants to work under a previous manager that will still want his say in everything that happens.

He will still be at the club with the same distaste towards him, anything that goes wrong, to the point of one of the stadium toilets running out of loo roll will be aimed at him..

Catastrophe for disaster..

I’ve always felt we went into the season with about the 14th strongest squad (definitely the smallest in the league)

With half the league in Europe though - including Palace and Forest who are around our level, and with Utd and Spurs still a mess, we did have a chance (with early January signings) to challenge for the European slots.

With no additions, that looks unlikely tbh. And next season without those advantages described above, we’ll find it much more difficult.

We had a real opportunity here in January and we’re just watching it walk by.

The thing is when you’re entering the season with the 14th best squad the goal is supposed to be progress.

Who is that?

I dont think any team in the league is missing as many key players as us right now?

This is the power of the Moyes BS media campaign: we just played Sunderland who had 6 at AFCON and a handful of injured players.

We had a depleted squad only in the sense that we had a set in his ways dinosaur manager who's failed to keep Armstrong at the club and failed to hand regular first team minutes to three players brought into the club at the cost of £70M.

This is what Moyes does best: gets his message out there so he can hand his motley crew of fans the ammo to defend him.
