Walcott has played as a central striker before in two spells for Arsenal. Overall, he scored 108 goals from 397 appearances (262 starts, 145 as a sub) and mostly playing wide. Playing centrally, he had at least one spell of 14 goals in 11 appearances.

If either Walcott or Richarlison is played centrally, the style of play would be different, and the good defensive work they both seem to do, out wide, would be lost.

Wow so would Usain Bolt.

So his plus point is he runs?

No.

His plus point is he is quick and stretches defences.

Against Arsenal we are going to be playing on the counter. Their defence can be got at, but Sokratis and Mustafi need to be turned.

I think Dom can do that. He can spin in behind and drift wide to stretch them out of position. That gives Walcott, Richarlison and Gylfi space to dart into.

Not sure I necessarily agree with this regarding Walcott like. I mean, he can make the odd defensive contribution, but Richarlison has already shown that he's the more willing to put the graft in dropping back. It's probably for that reason why I'd be a tad concerned at putting Richarlison up front as we'd lose that.. unless Bernard manages to form a good understanding with Digne that is.

For me the options are either Richarlison plays up top with Bernard on the left and Walcott on the right... or Walcott up top with Richarlison on the left and Bernard on the right. In fact.. we would probably have the flexibility to interchange them throughout games.

Sorry so his plus point is now “he runs fast”.

Seriously mate give up theres no positives

It's better than having no pace, for one.

But no, his positives are he's a real nusiance when played centrall, because of his pace, strength and effort. Mustafi and Sokratis need to be turned and put on their back foot. Dom can do that.

That opens up space for our better players to fill.

We aren't going to have loads of the ball and Arsenal aren't El Salvador, and Richarlison wouldn't have Neymar and Coutinho alongside him.

I'd rather have Dom doing the legwork for 70 minutes than having Richarlison doing it and knackering himself out.

We need Richarlison to stop "headbutting" people.

He can play down the middle if need be but even if he plays where he has been playing then the striker problem becomes less pressing.

A boss striker is not always the answer, we had a boss striker, we were still rubbish. It's everything that goes on around them.

Understand your point, however you still need someone to put the ball in the net...
Cenk is not doing it which puts pressure on the team & other players to score...
Our team lacks goals & leaks soft goals Marco has a job on his hands & will need time to re-structure....

Where will the goals come from I predict : Walcott 8 goals, DCL...10,Cenk 5,Richarlison 12, Siggurdsson 6.....

It's a worry....

DCL for me, he’s quicker stronger and can jump and with Richarlison and Walcott next to him I think he would slot.

Of course it’s all pointless because our defence is so bad that we’re always going to concede a few.

DCL would be a better choice than Cenk....
He can run in behind the defence with his pace & he is a strong force with his heading ability....

You get a couple of chances in games like these are you seriously telling me you want them falling to this clown?

Be honest

No, I want them falling to Walcott or Richarlison.

But just because they don't start centrally doesn't mean they wouldn't get into those positions. Dom can drag a defence all over the place and then that creates the space for our better players.

The problem is mate that when he has been getting into goal scoring positions he's either ballooning it over, or hitting it right at the keeper, having those players around him isn't going to make his finishing any better.
It's a fair point but it's these better players that will create for him and he will make space for them.

There aren't many strikers who are prolific who will score every game. Tosun probably won't score more than 15 in a season, it's what he brings to the team over 38 games that counts . France just won the worod cup playing a centre forward who doesn't score every game. However he allows the players around him to score.

We have richarldson Bernard Walcott lookman DCL all tasked with a similar role , they will be our real goal threat rather than tosun. Especially considering tosun has 2 assists already so by that stat he is on Couse for double digits this year which is good for a centre forward especially if he gets the same in goals.

I don't think he's that rapid, I remember a time he got played in yesterday and one of the west ham defenders caught hiom quiote easily, and another time he got through and just kept running until he ran into a defender and fell over

it's all good saying he can tun past people and get in behind ( which he can tbf ) it's what follows which is the problem, he can't finish, and he's not good enough to play others in who are in space, he's a head down facing the floor and sprint kind of guy

Not remember the first 10 minutes where he ran completely clear of two West Ham defenders to get on the end of Gana's pass. Did well to get there at all but just couldn't quite take it under control.
