NEA really, i only get sad when we sell players if we get a shocking fee and i don't feel we'll be better off. Lukaku to me is irreplaceable at this time, but stones is replaceable, he's much more potential than being a top class international. Hence why lukaku starts for his country and stones didn't even play a minute in a truly absymal english back line. Then again barkley didn't ply, but if i was england manager i don't think stones would have deserved to have started either.

There's no guarantee stones would have been a starter on saturday, £50m for a backup centre back, hard not to be happy in some way. I'm just a tad worried about the quality been linked with us today.

Great player already imo, will be missed... Great work from Moyes bringing in him in, great work by Martinez bringing him on, great work by the board selling him as the second most expensive Englishman and second most expensive defender in world football.

Just a shame Martinez didn't care about defense, and our board were too slow showing intent this transfer window or we may well of kept him.

I don't care that he moved on. That's probably why I'm not bent out of shape by it. I hope he does well, but he's a small drop and Everton is a big bucket. Does that mean I should change my vote to not arsed?
You do what feels right for you mate.I just can't wait for Ashley Williams to climb all over him and power a header into the citeh net.

Sad to see him go. I think he will go on to be a great.
For him, the damage was done under Martinez last year. The training ground arguments and the lack of coaching. I understand why he wanted to move. Still sad, but this is part of Martinez legacy.

Under Pep's careful tutelage, I'm looking forward to Stones volleying it into row ZZZ during every CL game.
I hope he becomes the new Beckenbauer but fear the Rodwell route beckons.

Not bothered. Every club in the world has players, even some of their best players, who want to leave and there's nothing you can really do about it.

I think he will also look back on not going to Chelsea last year as a bullet dodged. Pep is a much better guide for him.

i don't think we ever had the intention of keeping him past this summer, january at the absolute latest. Well done us for not buckling at chelsea's monster fee and then again when city said they wouldn't go any higher a few weeks back. We sold on our terms and it'll let us strengthen all the areas of the squad we wanted to. He was always going to be used as the sacrificial lamb so to speak.

I was actually less arsed about him leaving than about Martinez's "he's not for sale" routine last summer. I think that was all spin by RM because he was completely unprepared for that possibility and would have certainly wasted the money.

Good business for us at the top of this ridiculously inflated transfer market. Defenders can't win matches on their own. They can save matches working together. For all his potential I never saw Stones display either of those qualities often or consistently. He's a City player now and I think the defence needs leadership like a Gough / Weir / Distin. Williams fits that bill in spades.

Great ability not yet fully realised, will he make it only time will tell. Need to learn a lot defensively which is why I wonder whether Pep truly sees him as a defender, but in all honesty I think Pep is going to struggle any way. If he had been a true blue born and bred I would feel something but I just don't, we got good money for him and we need a rock in defence, make way for Williams.
