He was a Barnsley player to begin with so cannot really blame him for using Everton as a stepping stone. We earned a lot of money too.

No doubt he has got talent but he needs to learn basic defending and also stop thinking he is Hummels when passing the ball around..he is not and makes to many bad decisions...

He could be the next Rio Ferdinand or a player everyone will forget like Rodwell... at the moment he is closer to the latter...

i want him to succeed purely because i know theres a brill player inside him and want him to stick it to all those old cranks that say he tries play it too nice and doesnt hoof it enough

pep should suit him in this regard,, plus will be great to have a player of his calibre in the national side

Won't get near the national side with fat Sam in there now. Phil Jones place next to smalling that

I don't consider being too lazy to jump for a header and crying off with a fake illness when you are 2-0 down in the derby to be remotely professional at all. He was doing a Lescott for almost half of last season. I'm glad we have sold him for mega money. I just hope said money isn't wasted by ourselves.

Wish him well.

Anyone who doesn't is just a sad sack keyboard gangsta.

It was obvious he wanted to go to a *bigger* club. He handed in a transfer request last summer and when it was rejected he remained professional & at least both he and his dad didn't go spouting utter gash to the media unlike other players.

Not the best defender we've ever had or will ever have, but certainly has huge potential given the right coaching & development. Got the simple stuff wrong too much to be classed as a "world beater" just yet but hopefully he can better himself in the future.

We got a hefty fee and as far as I'm concerned all involved parties can come away from this deal satisfied.
