Without the takeover on the horizon he would've been out of the Goodison exit door last season. Has the potential to have a superb future career. For now I think Williams will make our back four more solid than Stones would have at present.

In short, not too arsed, these things happen.

He's not one of the 'once Everton has touched you' platers so I knew this day would come and didn't expect loyalty from him. You can't really knock a lad who signed for us to further his career when he wants to make the step up from where we're currently at.

As a player, I won't miss the defender Roberto Martinez turned him into, but I'll regret not seeing the player Koeman could have turned him into, even if just for one season.

As a man, transfer request aside, he always seemed to conduct himself well and seemed to appear at a lot of events for the club in the community. And he was very friendly with my 9 year old son when he met him.

Ultimately I think it's win-win. He got the move to a CL club that he wanted and we got a good fee. Oh, and some of the money filters down to Barnsley who'll probably appreciate the £7m as much, if not more than we will the £40m.

He annoyed me a bit when he handed in the transfer request, but to be fair, he has no affiliation to the club, we've made some serious cash out of him and he can't be blamed for wanting to go and play for Pep Guardiola and challenge for the title.

I think Stones will end up in the City midfield and could be incredible.
As long as he has an off day against us, I won't wish him any ill will.
