Steven Pienaar

I like Steven but he's been quite quick to turn around and be unhappy with his contract situation, which is amusing given how he ditched us for Spurs last time around. He's struggled to get fit the last two years and doesn't offer us anything much more of the pitch so I think it's best we let him go.

Been well chuffed he's been at Everton. However, Walked away from us in his prime, to chase the dollars, we had to buy him back when he didn't get a game ..... and now we're unreasonable? I think he needs to take stock and be grateful he still has a wage for us. I'd sit on our reserve team bench for nowt!

Cos earning in a week what i do in a year is never enough. I have no sympathy with players' wage demands, whether it's a going rate or not.

All things pass, hes on a fair whack and his contribution hasnt been worth it overall since his return.

A good player for us, but lets not forget he was quick to suit himself and showed no loyalty to the club - therefore i show show no remorse in cutting him loose, wishing him well.

He had every right though, he was our most influential player and the club refused to give him parity with our top earners

I tend to side with the club in these matters, i dont think he deserved to be our highest earning player to be honest, if memory serves me correctly he turned down 60k. I think Arteta had just left and he was our highest paid player on 85k, im happy we didnt give him that.

He was arguably our most influential player at the time, just look at the impact when he left. If memory serves he wanted 75 at the time which imo was perfectly reasonable

He was a good player mate, without doubt on his day, but in 2011 75k, was a top top salary would be the equivalant of about 100k a week now - i dont think he was worth that. And i have little sympathey for him now his career is regression, if you dont show loyalty you shouldnt expect it.

Despite being a good player, he never averaged much more then single figure assists and goals (often below 5 a year each) for all his technical ability he never had a cutting edge or was a match winner, whether he would have been as effective without Baines and vice versa as well is a broader debate - they certainly both complemented each other well.

Donavon came in and did brilliantly when Pienarr left and game for game was certainly more effective if memory serves me.

50 direct assist in his time here not to mention how many times he assisted the assister which I think we can all acknowledge would be double, Donovan was brulliant for the time but looked 10x better than he was purely because he came into the worst everton side ive seen in decades ridiculous to say he came anywhere near piennaer contribution to us.

Like i say, even if it was a big wage at the time it was richly deserved, we couldn't replace and ended up having to resign him, to cut out all that curfuffle should've just sorted it. Arteta was on silly money, at that point he was a glorified crab, he no longer ran our games like piennaar and baines did
