And we gave him a new deal why? Some of the decisions made about contracts are ridiculous like when Mirallas got an extension or Garbutt etc

..they are probably different situations;

I agree, the Mirallas one was ridiculous and posted so at the time.

Garbutt’s stock was high, he was looking decent and he’d run his current contract down. The most surprising thing was not him being offered one, it was him signing one given he could’ve moved on a financially attractive Bosman. In hindsight, his decision to re-sign might have reflected his attitude to football.

I think the club might’ve been very concerned about a lack of experienced keeper cover once Robles left. Steklenberg was also in demand (from France I think) so a new contract took the pressure off.

He is still no good as a no 2 - the Arsenal signing will come through to replace him asap - again contract extension costing money on an aging dodgy knees keeper was another bad idea.....

..I don’t disagree, Joey, but at least I can understand why. Robles moved on a Bosman and we would’ve been in the mire had Steklenberg gone to the French club.

I said on the day the last window closed that not getting another back up keeper was a massive problem that Brands needed to sort, it was the biggest mistake we made in the summer, some tried to tell me as i was wrong, my reason was incase Pickford got injured or suspended, i didnt even think about the manager leaving Pickford out for big games since that would be unimaginable.

Even at your age and with all your ailments, I`d rather have you in goal, than Skeletonburg.

You`d deffo be more agile, what with all that practice you got trying to catch those frogs in your pond ;)
