Squad - what squad?!!

We get it you don't like Moyes or the board.. or Everton fans it seems or..
Sorry if my being optimistic about this years squad has ruined the last 17 years though, didn't realise, i'll be a miserable git then, that helps, nothing breeds success like negativity.
Just to recap in a different way to your recap.. we just ensured we kept the services of a top manager who is aware that any funds would be found through the club and that would banckrupt us, he's ensured we have a stronger squad and less debt which equates to a good thing, and the reason to be optomistic is down to the players we have not the funds we had to buy them with, I honestly think I can say that with absolutely no effect on the last 17 years or indeed the fortunes of the next 17 years.

Hasn't stopped him for asking for a wage more than 99% of all mangers get though, has it?

McFadden never played and was complete garbage, Hannehman managed the bench for two FA Cup games, Denis was, let's be honest, dreadful, Baxter played a grand total of about 12 minutes and Yobo was 'sacrificed' two years ago. Tim Cahill and Drenthe are the only players 'sacrificed' from last year who could possibly have an influence on this season - Drenthe fecked about for 6 months before being sacked and Cahill is past his best. Not the end of the world.

McFadden, Hannehman, Cahill, Yobo.

So that's one then, dave.

Drenthe and the Strauq, come on everyone knows it we have lost hardly any game time players bar Cahill.

But then in comparrison to start of last season we have added four permo bodies.

Would i have swapped

McFadds
Hannehman
Yobo
Cahill (last year)
Drenthe
Strauq

for

Jelly
Gibbo
Stevie P
Naismith

Yeah defo - realisticaly only 1 of the above would have touched the first team regularly. Who said we're finsihed yet!

I think its called clearing out the deadwood.

It's been 2 months since my Opening Post so at least all the usual suspects, bar Cahill, remain, we've added 2 first teamers - Pienaar vital & Naismith very useful. The vast majority are fit (for now) - so at least we're in a stronger position than previously expected. A loan or two might be useful - as long as we lose no-one.

If you're including Jelavic and Gibson you also need to include Bily, Saha, yakubu, beckford, vaughan and Arteta.

Buying and selling Lescott alone has paid for a large amount of his time here, then consider the difference in funds between regular relegation battles and 4-7th place finishes we get so regularaly and he has more than paid for his wages. He is a top manager, on a top wage doing a good job.
I'd rather he got paid what he does and we did as well as we do than we got rid and we were where we were before wouldn't you?

Give over.

Yobo wasn't even registered in the Premier League squad last season as far as i'm aware. Sacrifice implies some kind of loss.

All 7 players sifted out were getting paid and were ready to play weren't they? That's the key, not whether they played.

Our squad at the start of this season is better than our squad at the start of last season.

2011/12
Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines
Coleman Fellaini Arteta Osman
Cahill
Saha

Rodwell
Gueye
Bily
Heitinga
Barkley
Neville
Anichebe

2012/13 (so far)
Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines
Naismith Fellaini Gibson Pienaar
Osman
Jelavic
Heitinga
Neville
Barkley
Anichebe
Coleman
Gueye
Rodwell

Hard to disagree.

I think we're better off this season than last. It seems that we're getting a well balanced starting eleven now.

You said he has 'sacrificed' squad players. Since when is selling a player who hasn't appeared for the team in 2 years and was never going to regardless of injuries considered a 'sacrifice' ?

And you act as if we definitely won't get any more loans in, Denis was garbage and Drenthe was an idiot, we'll more than likely see at least one more player coming in on loan, and as others have said the actual first team is stronger than it was at the start of last season.

Trophies won in the ten years Moyes has been here: 0
Trophies won in the ten years before Moyes was hired: 1

And same amount of relegations and years in the champions league proper.

Royle was a better manager than Moyes, not even going to lie. If we go back to that, I'd be more than happy.
