Squad - what squad?!!

We'll add at least one more player definitely and i'm made up with that as i'm actually happy with the look of our current squad, all fit and ready without distraction for the new season.

'Moyes still wants to add a pacy right winger and striking cover to his squad before August 31.'

Pacy Right Winger and striker.. combine the two and what do you get?

LANDON DONOVAN!

Be good if we can get him back on a longer loan (season long maybe at some point) , but don`t think having another 30+ year old on a 3-4 year contract is the way to go

What if he was able to sell some players, eg Vic and Johnny H and maybe even Rodwell , who's going to find it difficult getting into the team ? How much for the 3 ? A minimum £15m , he'd be able to get Johnson or Landon plus another defender.
Is this likely ? Not really but it's not beyond the realms of possibility

Mind numbing despair from the usual suspects aside, I think there is plenty to be optomistic about.
Pienaar is back and showed last season how much he improves us, especially with a decent striker near him.. Jelavic ticks that box showing his quality in needing one touch to hit to the back of the net, providing he is being fed the ball appropriately.. Enter Naismtih who has worked with Jelavic in doing exactly that who also seems to know where the net is.
Of our first team we lost Cahill who most wanted out of the team anyway.
Overall makes for a better squad if you ask me and with the youngsters a year older and a year closer to the first team I have no worries about us at all as a squad.
Bring on the second game (we're getting dicked against United)

Right i've been thinking.

Yes it's ace that (so far) we have kept our squad together. Pienaar back in, Naismith looks not too bad, I should be happy right? We ended last season awesomely, so surely it should carry on?
Well no, i'm not happy. Teams will have seen how we played end of last season and will have worked it out. I'm sure of it. We need some fresh new things in there.

Ha ha, youngsters in the first team. Ha ha ha. Tell us another one, mate.

Haha talk about being optimistic ....then finish with saying United are going to hammer us! why should they.

There's a reason they win so many leagues and cups, they have one of the best squads in the world. They will also be on top form after last season's leage finishi, plus we got 4-4 draw last season so they will not be taking us as lightly.
Doesn't mean we don't have a better squad and it doesn't mean that we won't do well this season.

What do you think they will have worked out?

Ha Ha. Even that's optimistic.
Optimistic by your standards is getting stabbed to death for a few hours instead of slowly tortured to death over a few days.

Face it. Moyesie is just a plodder who keeps his mouth shut and sells his players on when he's ordered to.
Have you ever considered an animated gif of the decaying fox from the start of True Blood as your avatar?

Anyway ... I'm not that worried. If I had the choice between standing pat or asking for more transfers (but not knowing it they'd be outs or ins or both) I'd probably just stand pat (because I doubt we can buy without selling and aside from an insane bid for Vic or maybe Rodwell I don't think we can lose anyone) and hope we can add LD in the winter.

If we had a manager who didn't sell players when the club needed to he'd be fired and/or we'd be in administration. Asking Moyes to be paid less or to force the board to do things (which he has done in the past) is missing the point. It's like standing next to a fireman and criticizing them for their water spraying technique while you ignore the people lobbing molotov cocktails into the building.

Moyes is the fireman and the board are burning the building down ... in case that wasn't clear.

Anyway cheer up mate ... football's almost back. Football! Wheeee!
