Quite. The season has been very poor, and we need to be seeing a return to aggressive tactics and play. Bobby's not doing himself any favours with his line ups and lack of proactive changes in tactics and subs. Today he went like for like a la Moyes, and we even had an unused sub on the bench. What on earth made him think that the formation and the performances were ever going to get us back in the game? He praises the Pienaar-Baines combination to the rafters yet doesn't give it a go when the team on the pitch are badly underperforming and his tactics are having no impact on the opposition.
The team looked great on paper, but looked very very poor on the pitch
An experimental team were great against Wolfsburg mid week
We played on the break against the Germans
Spurs played on the break against us

He was the only player who passed further than 5 yards without giving it away. Besic was a class act today unfortunately Barry looked like a player who was rushed back. Easily his worst performance for us.
I thought Barry looked rushed back too. He's much better than he showed today.

Disappointing result, thought Spurs played well in patches particularly the latter period of the first half.

Great goal by Mirellas, thought Besic was our best player today.

Even with the number of changes between games the Thursday/Sunday routine is definitely a factor. It's a learning game though and we'll get there.

Disappointed but not discouraged, first defeat in nine, time to start another run.

Tremendous support today btw
Hold on, you cant say the opposition deserved a result. That's outrageous.

Attacking football can win you games, but playing the ball left to right in your own half only wins you the possession stat, and leaves you vulnerable to making mistakes in deep. FFS we couldnt even beat the first man on set pieces. Would deffo keep Besic n McCarthy partnership when he's back

You didn't watch the same game as me then, as he did it at least three times, and that's me erring on the side of caution - honestly, it was about five times in key positions.

There were occasions where he'd show quick feet, step away from a marker and pass well, but they were few and far between IMO.
Then you need to go back and watch the game again.

If any player (s) that need to be looked at after that, its Barry and Eto'o, not besic.

I couldn't care what they do mate or what they spend I care about us. If we were 5 points ahead I would be laughing my arse off at them but at present we are no better, they atleast have sturridge to come back what's out excuse when it's the manager who's decision making is costing us week after week.

Favorites, moyes had neville and osman and martinez has eto'o and Naismith. Both good players but he is too scared to leave them on the bench for the good of the team and it's cost us precious points again.

So you think we shouldn't laugh at a Liverpool side level on points with us after spending 150m in the summer and 100m the season before

A Liverpool side with ONE injury whilst we have had most of our first team out at some point

Also if Naismith and Eto are Martinez fav's why don't they start every game?

Wow we dominated possession, played on the counter at home and narrowly won by 2-1 and Sky are hailing it as the best performance ever.

I would be embarrassed as a Spurs fan playing on the counter at home to us.

Barry looked like he was incapable of running that entire game. Should never have made the team. Everyone giving Besic criticism or losing the ball didn't watch Barry and Barkley lose it a lot more. He wasn't excellent or anything, but he wasn't anywhere as much of a liability as the other two I mentioned.

Quite annoying that we raise our game for the Europa League, then look half-arsed in the Prem. Happens EVERY time after a European game. Thank god the Krasnodar game is a dead rubber so we can put out a reserve side

Last season our passing was slick 100mph stuff at its best. This season and particularly at the back, watching that ball trickle from centre back to centre back to full back is absolute agony. I understand waiting for the right pass, but if we pass that slow its no wonder that teams close us down quickly. When playing passing football, the final ball needs to zip and make the opposition get knackered. This isn't happening at the moment and if it doesn't improve I can see us bottom half come January.

This is why we're awesome in Europe, slower game but quick counter attack. Not the same in the league, up the tempo lads, pleease!! For the love of god!!
Agreed. Sometimes we are painful to watch, we are too predictable, but if Martinez really is the Messiah, then surely he will know this and things will get better...

Agreed, match sharpness was lacking in a few today and it really told.
Definitely, the injuries are still affecting us even with players being able to play. Hopefully we can get a healthy run going and see what happens. Not having to play first team players against Krasnodar is going to be a well earned luxury.

Yeah but we still need experience in there and cant just go mad and get rid of all. When stones is back id bring distin out and maybe look at starting to give besic abit more game time in barrys position. Keeper needed either january or in the summer too.

yeah, i have no problems with the amount of experience we're playing. it's just the way they've let us down continually and derailed our season. you see players like browning and garbutt, besic as well who have come into the team and done a good job every time. you'd expect this type of thing to let us down, not the experience. robles has to come in for me, he just has to be given a chance, howard has done nothing to merit his inclusion. stones will rightully knock one of the older defenders out because he's the best CB at the club already.

We gave them two goals because of our inability to bring the ball out of defence under the slightest of pressure. A genius system that has our worst two footballers in possession more than anyone else.
Absolutely. Distin in particular must have the highest possession statistics in the whole team. No one looks to give him a decent ball, no one moves into the spaces. And Distin responds by doing the Bambi on ice routine.

Then you need to go back and watch the game again.

If any player (s) that need to be looked at after that, its Barry and Eto'o, not besic.

Barry played more passes with a higher completion rate than Besic, completed more clearances and fewer fouls... yet the reality was they were both awful.
