Iceland did well enough when he was brought into his proper position in the middle.

Jonjoe did well when taken out of his proper position and put on the left.

I don’t know how badly he was hurt when that attack broke down right on their byeline but the fact he stopped playing and never chased after the fellow allowed Saints to start the move which led to their opener.

There might be a valid reason for that but in the absence of knowing one I am voting for Iceland as at last he showed glimpses of form and his goal was super.;)

Really a man of the match poll? How can anyone actually vote on this we were not even in the game even at 1-1 you knew what was going to happen

..because @Andy C puts a lot of effort into this and it’s still a reflection of who is at least having a go in the difficult times.

If folk post in this thread I think it’s important to vote, hopefully we can look back on these months in brighter times.

Siggy got my vote for his brilliant goal.but it's hard to take any other positives out of this game. That was like boys v men and it looks like team morale has gone completely

Worth pointing out that the referee was the worst homer in a long time i think it took until the 70th minute before we got a free kick which doesn't help when you are struggling to hold onto the ball.
Hmmm. I thought I was being paranoid. It seemed to me that every Everton tackle resulted in a free kick, and every Southampton tackle deemed "fair". But Kevin has never been our "Friend" has he?

...certainly @davek has been proposing we keep Unsworth in place until the end of the season. He was supported by others in a view that Unsworth will get us into a mid-table place because the attitude has improved.
I won't highlight the elephant in the room in your quote, however on a serious note I feel that the any improved 'attitude' evaporated today.

I was reliably told a few weeks ago, which I mentioned on here, that the club 'knew his level' and instead there'd be a permanent replacement.

The failure of the club to still to achieve this goal over a month since Ronald was relieved of his duties is bordering on negligence.

Kenny MOTM wow! One for the future and tries hard to be sure. Really for me no man of match for any recent games. I voted Siggy for a awesome goal but nothing more.

Appreciate the effort put into the match report.

We are run by amateurs in the boardroom.

We are led on the pitch by losers.

The only players to come out of that game with any credit were Pickford, Kenny and Sigurdsson.

Southampton have struggled to score all season and without particularly playing well put four past us. We may have had worse times, and worse individual players but this is currently one of the most embarrassing of our sides I have witnessed. No desire at all, sadly including long term members of our squad.

Other than knowing we need to try and score in the opposition's goal there seems to be no idea of how to attack with success. I like Unsworth and he has done a great job with the youth team but his aspirations of being a permanent first team manager of any league club in the near future are diminishing with every team performance. His time as temporary manager has been a reputation destroyer.

As the game went on I got more and more annoyed that going into what was supposedly going to be a big season for us we flopped in replacing players we needed in vital areas. I personally have been disappointed in all three of the Moshiri-era transfer windows.

There are plenty who represent our club I blame for the current debacle, but there is only one man who has the power to make changes, Farhad Moshiri. There needs to be a cull in the boardroom, coaching and playing staff, the sooner the better.

Hopefully Wednesday evening's game brings us some joy.

I appreciate the time and effort going into the poll I just don’t tell that any player is even worth noting. Apart from the goal they were a disgrace eggs. They don’t deserve the time and effort that is put into this

..yep, it’s almost impossible to take any positives from the game. Sigurdsson is a fish out of water being asked to do a conventional wide role but he at least stuck to his task and then produced the only moment of quality when he was in an area of the pitch he should be operating in. I went for him.

Those wide areas continue to be defensively a big problem for me. For two of the goals we had two players drawn to the ball whilst runners went unmarked. It’s very basic. Teams are getting behind us and we very rarely get behind them at the other end. That’s where threat comes from.
