so, what do we do on Saturday?

Keep it solid but not defensive. I wasn't impressed with Gibson against Fulham so I don't know, not sure if this is the game to put him in. If Barkley had a little more experience I'd like for him to have a go centre mid alongside McCarthy but not so sure on his defensive/positional nous and he has been excellent in the hole. It's a difficult one.

I think we might have to give Heitinga a go in def mid. If not, then Barkley & McCarthy CM with Osman in front. Mirallas & Pienaar either wing.

Last season after being out for 3 months Gibbo came back and played 70 mins vs. Arsenal on the Wednesday and 90 mins vs. City in this same fixture on the Saturday. But this season we should go with Heitinga instead because we're not sure if Gibson's ready...

From some 'ITK' i'm guessing.

Well I work at Goodison on match day, he uses a box like most players do when they don't play to watch the game, Barry bought one for the whole season when he joined, Nevile family, Howard, Cahill all used to have one.

I work in the '78 lounge which is right next to the boxes, Gibbo is notorious for being quite open with people, he's a very fiery character, even if he doesn't show that too much on the pitch.

ITK indeed.

Not necessarily about fitness (though he clearly doesn't look after himself properly), just that he was sh*t against Fulham. Really poor. I wouldn't want him in that form at City away.

Difficult to get an objective answer in this case with a name like that tho ha.

Ok. Who was better in the first 70 vs. Fulham, McCarthy or Gibson? Watch the highlights on the site if you need a refresher. Gibbo is the pass before the assist for 4 or 5 of our best chances including the goal. He did pretty well for his first game back, especially since he had to contend with playing with Heitinga.

Oh yeah, Heitinga was so good in that game and has been in recent memory that you want to play him ahead of Gibbo as well! Clueless.

And talk of being objective. You might want to back up those accusations. 'clearly doesn't look after himself properly'. Proof please. Sounds like you're the one not being objective, just making up a load of crap to fit your position.

If Pienaar isn't healthy (and maybe, even if he is...), I'd start Deulofeu in his place.

Howard

Coleman
Jagielka
Distin
Baines

Mirallas
Gibson
McCarthy
Deulofeu

Barkley

Lukaku

Someone making up a load of crap to fit their position????

On Grand Old Team ????

Well I never..........

*I've never done that by the way.......so far as you know.

Listened to the game while driving yesterday, but just watched the extended highlights from the game. Still got excited even though I knew what to expect. I can't see how Barkley-Lukaku-Mirallas doesn't stay the front 3 until Pienaar returns. They seem to get each other. Even then, Barkley may be better moving into the center from outside with Lukaku up front. (Then again, I only watched the highlights).

I'd put McCarthy up front again and pair Gibson and Osman in the rear. If Pienaar is ready I suppose that shakes it up a bit.

Depends on Mirallas fitness I think. If he is fit, then I would just swap Gibson for Barry and then it's as you were. If mirallas injured, could just bring pienaar in to keep same system otherwise he could risk 3 centre backs with stones coming in. Options to change it up for sure.

Always the Delafoof as an option too.

Gibson for barry and pienaar for osman. play at a high tempo. with them playing tonight in a masive game they won't be up for a saturday dinner time kick off.

be nice if kompany and/or toure got a knock tonight and missed the game tbh.

Toures been a beast for them this season.

We just need to keep doing what were doing, im confident we can create some decent chances and i expect us to get on the scoresheet. Having said that, if we finish the game still undefeated i will be delighted.
