Sky Sports News on Baines 'dive'

They're just having a go at unsettling him ahead of the derby - this and the lukaku thing - anything to ensure a Liverpool win

Though to be fair, play anything like last night and that will happen anyway!

a lot of the time players just jump out the way of tackles (gareth bale) its not always a dive if the ref sees it as a foul then so be it , and on another note theres also intent a referee can give a foul if no contact , not like he was trying to win a penalty baines is probably the most attacking full back in the prem making runs into the box how many times has he tried to con a referee? cant remember any

Just watched it again, and just for you smart a---- he does not just touch his arm but barges his arm and shoulder WATCH IT and tell me he just touches his arm The only WBA player upset is REID why no one else just watch it.

If you look closely enough, you can see Reid pulls out a flick knife as well. Dirty get him.

clear dive, not sure how the ref could think it was a free-kick, it was pretty clear imo.

as was mirallas', well mirallas' was more of a jump into a defender to make it look like a free-kick.

bring in retrospective action and sort the problem. not going to defend them because they play for everton, baines has been guilty of going down a little too easily for a while imo.

if refs are going to constantly give them and no action be taken, he's going to keep doing it. doesn't matter where on the pitch it is, the punishment should be the same.

good to see not many on here condoning it - good to see collymore give the coverage and plaudits it deserved, no need to turn it into a race row liverpool you useless ****s.

Baines went down too easily when there was contact. This has crept into Baines's game since he got into the England team, which isn't surprising really.

Ferguson encouraged his players to dive or as he called it, 'we will not win the Champions League until we play like the continentals'. Manu players would go down easily around the penalty area so as to get a free kick for Beckham to get a chance of a goal. This became part and parcel of the tactics that England adopted, and was used to great effect that got them goals and qualification for tournaments. This still goes on with England and Baines is caught up in it.

As far as Sky Sports are concerned they want and need Liverpool in the Champions League for the revenue they bring i.e LFC fans getting sky, selling the rights, and viewing figures when LFC are in it, worldwide. Sky can negotiate better deals when LFC are in, rather than when they are out. They have a vested interest in promoting LFC, that is one of the reasons there are so many ex Kopites on Sky's live games.

Sky Sports have chosen to have a go at Baines dive because we are challenging them for top 4, same last year with Spurs and Bale, they were challenging the RS for top 4. The RS media used Bale to deflect attention from Suarez. Wait until the world cup and when Suarez dives and simulates injury against England, let's see what the reaction of Lineker, Murphy, Shearer when a dubious penalty means Uruguay beats England. Let's see if they say, 'he has the right to go down if Hart is so stupid'.
