Sky Sports News on Baines 'dive'

Baines went down too easily when there was contact. This has crept into Baines's game since he got into the England team, which isn't surprising really.

Ferguson encouraged his players to dive or as he called it, 'we will not win the Champions League until we play like the continentals'. Manu players would go down easily around the penalty area so as to get a free kick for Beckham to get a chance of a goal. This became part and parcel of the tactics that England adopted, and was used to great effect that got them goals and qualification for tournaments. This still goes on with England and Baines is caught up in it.

As far as Sky Sports are concerned they want and need Liverpool in the Champions League for the revenue they bring i.e LFC fans getting sky, selling the rights, and viewing figures when LFC are in it, worldwide. Sky can negotiate better deals when LFC are in, rather than when they are out. They have a vested interest in promoting LFC, that is one of the reasons there are so many ex Kopites on Sky's live games.

Sky Sports have chosen to have a go at Baines dive because we are challenging them for top 4, same last year with Spurs and Bale, they were challenging the RS for top 4. The RS media used Bale to deflect attention from Suarez. Wait until the world cup and when Suarez dives and simulates injury against England, let's see what the reaction of Lineker, Murphy, Shearer when a dubious penalty means Uruguay beats England. Let's see if they say, 'he has the right to go down if Hart is so stupid'.

I have a feeling Uruguay won't be needing any kind of dubious penalty against England. Suarez will play out of his skin and absolutely tear apart the England defence - he'll be on a one man mission considering how much he hates the English FA - he'll score at least two

I agree with the rest though - its good for business if Liverpool qualify.

.

Never really thought about that before but you could be right there.

It was a foul and a dive. the end

This isn't possible according to FIFA's Laws of the Game.

FIFA Cautions for unsporting behavior said:
Attempts to deceive the referee by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled (simulation)

According to the Laws of the game: If it was a foul than it wasn't a dive. If it wasn't a foul then it was simulation (a dive).

I think this should be changed so that overreacting to foul in order to influence the referee should be bookable as well. Give the free kick for the foul but also book the player for simulation. I also think that dives where the player wasn't even fouled (touched) should be reviewable after the match and players that dive banned for three matches.

Baines and Mirallas both milked free kicks with unacceptable simulation -
Sure other sides do it - especially Liverpool -
But it tarnished our reputation with WBA fans -
We should rather be the last Club standing in this issue -
we are watching football not WWf Wrestling -
Come on Martinez our honour is worth more than a few points - sort it out - lead the way- to fair play
Hypocrates these lot of the FA if racism is out but cheating is acceptable

I think that Cahill or Jagileka, preferably the latter will smash his cartilages/ligaments into next week. Then when he's crying on the floor, rip his head off and spit in the hole.

Iterating a previous poster's point, Sky do NOT want Everton in the top 4. Their preference order is Man U, Liverpool, Spurs....then Newcastle, then us.

Global fan base (subscriptions) is what it is all about. I can't blame them for that...everything these days is about money
