Beyond the tactics and the inconsistency it's the lack of heart and spirit. When I was growing up watching Everton under
Moyes we didn't have the best players in the league but there was a fight in us, there was leadership and there was passion. There was a personality to Everton, instead now all we get is a stoned faced "clinical" tactical manager who worst of all is not even very good at tactics.
With the quality of player we have now Unsworth could have got us where we are. You look at Silva's coaching record and you have to start wondering if he is a fraud or a grifter. We are doing worse than the
Moyes era in many ways even with 500m spent on players.
My top choice would be Mikel Arteta by far
after that... Martinez Back? I would say no. Jose wanting to come back to the EPL? Maybe but I would feel like it wasn't long term
