The overwhelming majority are quite happy, and most, enthusiastic, about giving Moyes a good send off and thank you, but not from the dug out, he could do it from the directors box, next to Bill. Your twisting of sentiments does not stand up to scrutiny. The world will see us as another victim of the power of money in the game. The responses by the club to losing it's manager have included shock, bewilderment, despair, sadness, all these coming from the chairman. Now, either he is suffering from all those emotional conditions or acting, either way it's another poor performance. That his mind is that clouded and he cannot think because he needs a contingency, quick, to cover himself, has allowed events to dictate what perception there is of the club as an institution for the remainder of the season. Sunday will not be about Everton appreciating Moyes, whatever happens, it is about him leaving to for another club he agreed to join this week, he will be tagged onto the story about Ferguson, while Everton FC play the waiters at the party. If some supporters are angry at that portrayal the have every right to be. "wow, if I do really well there, I will get noticed. It's a tough job, but I'm good enough to do it" from a google by a manager, really, merit etc? honestly?, sorry that is absolute bollocks, and seriously, from one blue to another, I genuinely feel for this club if you cannot see it, and promise that when you finally do, it will all be too late. Genuinely no offence intended, but yours is a different Everton to mine and that is Bill Kenwright's legacy.
Mate, I DO see it. I recognize along with most Everton fans that in this media-driven age Sunday will be all about David Moyes and not so much about Everton FC. But it is more dignified to show him the appreciation he deserves for his work here over a long period than to throw a hissy fit about our club EFC not being the centre of attention on the day.
I have been following us since Bally was dominating our midfield. I don't know what age you are but for you to suggest that people with a similar viewpoint to mine are a product of "Bill Kenwright's legacy" is beyond the pale. We KNOW the high standards expected a from this club, but just because we live in real world of EFC 2013 doesn't mean that we "cannot see it", as you put it. You are effectively laying the blame for our current position on your fellow supporters instead of the board who are the people responsible.
You seem to think that people with your viewpoint have a monopoly on feeling the pain of us playing second fiddle to United over this whole business. Well you don't. It's the world that we live in today. Get used to it until we find the owners to take us back to where we belong.
In 9 days time Moyes will be part of the history of Everton. Then we can (hopefully) look forward to the next chapter in our long history. In the meantime show some respect for the name of Everton FC.
