Say something controversial - round 2

It DOES make a difference though. They are marginalised, they are beaten up. LGBT teens have one of the highest rates of suicide. The parade isn't for you, it's not just to say to people, 'hey, come on now, it's all cool now'. It's about being able to celebrate who you are in a society that often makes that difficult. If the city centre becomes a faff to go through over a weekend, I think we can cope.
This moniker 'LGBTQ', seems to me it includes every possible sexual permutation apart from straight. Why are straight people marginalised like this?

Don't really understand the logistics of a parade on a forum?

I'm sure people would have an issue if someone went thread to thread talking about their sexuality? Sure that would be a alot of off topic going on?
Mate you're not the transportation manager for Liverpool city centre.

Do you know how the pride event reflects so positively on the city? Or the money it brings in? Never mind the primary factor of dispelling horrid predujices from society by empowering a very large group of people who've had hideous treatment.

Of the many things that makes me proud to come from Liverpool, it's the acceptance of all people, race, religion or sexuality that reflects our culture most positively. The rest of the country is playing catch up to what we already knew. Bigotry is for bells.

I know you want me to say something actually homophobic but sadly you aren't getting it.

So what is exactly wrong with what I say? What difference does a giant event like a festival thing compared to them having a parade make?

There are plenty of other 'groups' who don't appreciate the attention as they see it the way it is, shouldn't be special attention.
Maybe it's saying it's ok to be gay, and not something you should hide or be ashamed of.

Ash your uncle is the guilty one here, not you just embrace your sexuality, burst out of that closet in a chorus of Julie Garland songs

OK.

And holding a very specialised and high profile festival promoting the same thing but more open to anyone to be a part of wouldn't be? More so if it was used as a statement the world over where you get high profile artists to support which again draws people to them. Would thst not be even better for both the city and the issue at hand?

How is it more open mate?

I think there's often an underlying unhappiness that causes overeating, I think Ash's food diary screams emotional issues and it would appear these have come to light in this thread.

Find a local spot where you can suck someone off without exchanging names, I think once you've got the first one out of the way the gayness will flow through you. You have my full support Christopher.

Because there's a large section of the population who are gay or bi and want to have a big party each year in our city, with everyone invited regardless of their own sexuality.

Everyone likes a good party mate and it's optional to attend so I don't see the problem?
