First Damo now Ash losing the plot.
GOT has been Tilted today, that's for sure.

Are you against free movement or minorities?

He'd rather just keep them all penned in the same place.

Like a camp.

For gay people.

I know you want me to say something actually homophobic but sadly you aren't getting it.

So what is exactly wrong with what I say? What difference does a giant event like a festival thing compared to them having a parade make?

There are plenty of other 'groups' who don't appreciate the attention as they see it the way it is, shouldn't be special attention.

Because a lot of gay people may feel unsafe walking through the centre of a major city holding hands and this is a chance for them to do so - something most take for granted.

Because it is highlighting a factor that shouldn't be a factor. Shuts down a city for a day to basically say look at us.

A giant event that celebrated it instead still has the same effect without doing that. It would he a nice staple in the calendar. Would go down with the family to it, live music and stuff without forcing the point of sexuality which would be far more effective than trying to get people to notice. The Sunday this year is exactly what I mean, had a walk round it and it was good fun, just a nice atmosphere and nice day out. Do that on a bigger scale instead.

The correct response to someone saying I'm gay should be no one cares, same as if someone announced they were straight.
It's not just that though is it.
In reality it's celebrating the freedom of sexual expression, stepping away from the repression of the past and celebrating that people can be who they want to be.

So a parade is better?

It is generally public opinion that needs to change and having a parade then is the worst way to go about it. A parade labels them as special therefore, worthy of special attention.

And that is exactly that, no one should care about their sexuality. A giant festival thing promotes equality so much more than a specialist event drawing attention to it. Race sexuality skin colour religion etc none of that matters. And having an event where people can be involved in would be a much more effective way of getting that message across than having a specialised attention seeking parade which only counters the point you make. If two gay people or two straight people hold hands for example then that should be no different. Drawing attention to something that shouldn't need attention drawn to it. Promoting equality through one big event anyone can get involved in is a much more effective way of doing so .

Imagine if next year then that if 5-6 major cities including liverpool just held a festival. Got bands and singers in to support the event, great day out. Again carry the gay pride message throughout it but have it more open to anyone to come along and just enjoy it, I believe that would be much better in pushing for equality.

And as I said holding a festival rather than a parade is much more effective in doing that. Rather than having a giant thing which forces people to look at , have an event where anyone of any background can be in that atmosphere where again they can be themselves as the day or weekend is about them but but anyone can be a part of.

The issue as you say is feeling comfortable , what I suggest is a much better way for them to do thst.

Why can't it be done through a parade?
No one is forced to look at anything...
All of these things are accomplished through pride parades.

But when the city is shut down for it then it exactly is doing that.

Pride parades achieve nothing in terms of equality because how can they? No one suddenly becomes less of a bigot on the subject because they had a parade about it.

But I can guarantee a big event where people can intermingle and enjoy themselves would change far more minds when they realise it makes no odds on the subject.

You can't guarantee anything mate.
It's not about changing minds it's about celebrating the right to freedom of sexual expression.
A parade achieves this.

Harold Shipman was just trying to solve the pension crisis.
The NHS should adopt his methods.
Save the taxpayer billions on drugs and care costs.
#BlackLivesMata

If sex with young boys was good enough for the Ancient Greeks then who are we to turn our noses up at it?

I'd argue that the more people that get the message the better.

I'd argue that drawing people's attention to the issue and increasing awareness has done a hell of a lot for equality over the years

Can you?

How?
