I think there's often an underlying unhappiness that causes overeating, I think Ash's food diary screams emotional issues and it would appear these have come to light in this thread.

Because there's a large section of the population who are gay or bi and want to have a big party each year in our city, with everyone invited regardless of their own sexuality.

Everyone likes a good party mate and it's optional to attend so I don't see the problem?

Which is exactly what I have said? The festival idea would be a giant party, even more so than a parade . It would still be their day or weekend. It would still be promoting the cause, and it would be much bigger and more high profile than what they do now.

If anything what I suggest as an alternative would be actually better?

Maybe it's saying it's ok to be gay, and not something you should hide or be ashamed of.

As I said earlier it shouldn't matter. Sexual preference shouldn't even be an issue, and it shouldn't be a characteristic you label someone with.
