From the Times:
"Everton hope to tempt Chelsea with an offer to sign Salomon Kalou, six months before the end of the forward's contract at Stamford Bridge. The Merseyside club have struggled in attack and scored only a goal a game on average in the Barclays Premier League this season. Leighton Baines, the left back, is the top scorer with four goals in all competitions.
Kalou, 26, has begun just two league games this season, compared with 16 appearances from the start last season, and has been unable to command a regular starting place since he moved to Chelsea from Feyenoord for £8 million six years ago. Chelsea have not offered the Ivory Coast forward a new deal and they would be willing to sell him. Arsenal tried to buy him in 2008, but the North London club were lukewarm when offered the chance to sign him this month. Kalou's wages could be an issue for Everton."
Was going well until the last sentence.
