You need a buyer before you can sell. That buyer will need to pay a salary the player will accept.

Often times, they fail to realize that a player of that kind of quality may come with baggage. Often times, they don't. The ones that don't, play for Milan, Barca, Bayern, etc.... The ones that do, clubs like Everton take a flyer on. Why? Cause none of the big boys will.

Yeah it would have been a risk, but you've got to weigh the pros with the cons and at the end of the day, I figure the pros would have outweighed the cons in regards to Drenthe.

We can't. But since we have a limited budget, apparently we need to be careful about who we sign. Hence, Everton is made up of the players we have now. I doubt we'll ever have room for a player of REAL TECHNICAL SKILL like Drenthe or Fernandes, players who can turn the game around in a flash. As someone so accurately said earlier, never Moyes type players anyway.

Donovan is a overall better player than drenthe.

People get carried away with the fact hes available on a free but i imagine the cost of donovan over a 3 yr period would be no more to the club than drenthe once everything is taken into account.

Drenthe.. Even taking away his piss poor attitude would be no more than a impact sub at the top teams.
