Rooney (18 months left on a contract)

I think it's pretty obvious that if he did come back, he's thinking about his legacy and how he wants to be remembered. If not, he's in it for the pay day, and that's fine too. Far be it from me to tell anyone how to live their life or career.

But if he IS thinking about his legacy, a move back to Everton for less money would have everyone looking at him in a new light.

Joey Barton said as much. Everton were the only team he'd take less money to join.

As has been said, a certain poster on here who would be in a position to know, say that he is considering it. When and if it comes off, who knows? But he is thinking about it.

I think Rooney has a good 4 or 5 years left in him, and it will be interesting to see what happens next summer. He will get a new contract at one of United, Chelsea or Arsenal imo.

If he does get sold next summer, then he will still go for a lot of money, I think it will be at least 30million. And that is just too high a figure for Everton to be investing in someone who will have little resale value, although that could possibly be offset by the increase in revenue/hype that he would bring.

I no longer think it would be a good move for Everton to sign Rooney.

Are you all mad, my friends? Have you forgotten the way he left us, he celebrated goas at Goodison against us????? He is a **** who don't care about his roots - Everton! We don't need him

Rooney is the only thing holding Man U together at the moment. God he is a great footballer. But I strongly suspect he will be 'out of there' shortly. The appointment of David Moyes to Utd has nailed on his move. Most likely beneficiary of this is Chelski. Everton's chances of getting him? Well, if we get CL entry, possibly a 5-15% chance. A lot depends on where his priorities lie: money or footballing heart. Strongly suggest it's the former.

Rooney has 5-7 working/earning years in him. Cant see him making a living in the game once he finishes playing, so he should maximise his earnings. I would. If that is MLS/PSG/Russia/Chelsea its pretty academic. It wont be here, and I couldnt care less really.

I wouldn't, he has more than enough money anyway. There are something's money can't buy and being a hero in the city you're from is one of them. Oh, and he'd still be earning the best part of £5 million a year with us, I'm sure he wouldn't starve.

Rooney is worth 45 million according to reports in media today if he Joins Chelsea then its because he thinks he can win more their, it surely can't be about the money, that will be an added bonus that comes with being boss at football. When he did his interview with Richard Keys on Talksport he wouldn't rule out coming back to Everton, but we don't a 'Gazza version of Rooney' so it will either be In summer '15 on a free or not at all.

Think it will be. If he is wanted at, say Chelsea, he will, or mores the point, his "people" will, demand parity with the top earners there. Its ego/status/greed/last pay day. Take your pick.

So we can get him on a free, in 2 seasons time.....when he is 30 ??!! No ta.

Now or never.

And will be awfull.

Its naive to actually beleive a striker can drop into a new position and excell, at the leverl we want.

Well, you're chatting rubbish. 'Will be awful'. Give over.

Wayne Rooney aged 30 would be the best player in our team with the exception of Barkley (depending on how he develops). FACT.

Absolute madness to suggest we should say no to having him on a free aged 30.

Don't forget that he can walk out of his contract 12 months early through the duckworth lewis method or whatever its called
