Roberto Martinez discussion

You seem to think that we'll end up with our lowest points total in the premiership I merely informed you that there's 48 points still up for grabs and we need 18 more to beat that total, for a squad of our quality that's easily achievable.

Incorrect Dougie, my initial response was to point that RM had indeed given us our highest PL points total, I was just pointing out if not careful he would take us to our lowest PL points total which is where you picked it up and got carried away.

I used Bradford because it's the latest football surprise, I could have easily pointed to Stoke beating City. It's football you can't predicte it with any definitive outcome.

Everyone agrees we've been a shadow of the team last season, but it's the same players and the same manager so we know we're capable of much better. We hit rock bottom against Newcastle and Hull and since then we've looked more compact and aggressive and results have improved. The next stage is winning games and gaining much needed confidence, I hope that will start at the weekend and give us a platform to build from.

This squad of players is to good to continue to play as badly as the first half of the season, hopefully this break has been beneficial in sharpening the players minds and we kick on.

What about West Brom????

The other side of that coin is are we heading for our lowest ever PL points total in RM's second season.

I didn't get carried away I've just pointed out there's potentially a lot of points to be won between now and the end of the season.

You've clearly got a downer on Martinez and like to drag everyone down to that level, but I'd rather see the positives and trust that we'll revert to type and come out of this slump.

It doesn't really matter where they come from as long as the come, the phrase people like to throw about is 'must win game' but really they all carry the same amount of points.

If we don't beat Palace we just move onto the next game and so on..

The sad thing is, Palace is more of a "must win" game than the derby is :(

If we get relegated and teams like Leicester and Burnley stay up then we don't deserve to be anywhere near the Prem, in fact the players should be round up and shot.
Only an act of God can save us now. Teetering on the brink we are.

Oh Dougie for heavens sake, read the post mine referred to, you did not have to jump in but you did because you were waving the RM banner, take a damper will you.

AS for RM, yes based on what is currently happening I would like to see him depart but that is my view. Others can make up their own mind whether they back him or not. I do not know where you got that from "like to drag everyone down to my level". You really are now letting your imagination run riot, give it a rest and move on.

I'm not sure why you're playing the victim here, I just made a simple reply initially to a negative post.

It's an open forum people respond to all sorts without a eritten invitation you can choose not to respond or even use the ignore function if it suits.

How? Clearly the preference is 2 wins but neither game offers more points than the other.

Very simple, Doug.

Three points takes us further away from one of the teams down there with us.

That is why, in the greater scheme of things, victory at Palace is more important.

Commonsense says that if a genie popped out of a bottle and said we could only win one of those games and we had to choose, Palace is your only choice :)
But commonsense be darned......I would pick the derby....as I am sure would 99% of us.....:celebrate:

But.....we would be wrong :pint2:
