Roberto Martinez discussion

Don't think he will. Played Robles all through the FA cup run with Wigan while starting al hasbi in the league I believe. Think martinez is set on tim for the league and Robles for the semi final and fa cup

Robles replaced Al Hasbi as Wigans number one for their run in after they knocked us out the cup, he conceded an average of 2 goals a game. He's one of the reason Wigan got relegated really.

The semi final will be Martinez most pressurised game ever, the cup final for Wigan was a free hit and in reality so were his relegation scrapes. Nobody ever expected little Wigan to stay up for ever and nobody gave them a cat in hells chance against City so he could stay loyal to his players safe in the knowledge he'd be the good guy whatever the result.

However expectations and desires at Everton are completely different and he's not going to send out a deliberately weakened team against the best side in the country in a semi final. This is his one shot at really achieving something that will make people sit up and take notice, it's the launchpad for his career. He won't throw that away on a gentlemans agreement or blind loyalty he'll be ruthless and play his best and strongest team available, which as well all know means Howard in goal.

Al Habsi got injured in the run in, they rushed him back for the last league game but he got injured again. Who knows, he might have played the final.

He'll play Robles. The second most annoyed i've ever been with an Everton team selection (after Moyes deciding to write off the Anfield derby in 2011) was rocking up at the emirates to find he'd put that (admittedly improving) clown in goal in a QF. And behind Stones, who at the time had about 4 games at centre half under his belt. If he did it then he'll do it now.

That's just another reason why he won't I'd have thought. God that was an awful performance and everybody could see it coming all week. Martinez has proved he's capable of learning from his mistakes mate and they don't really come much bigger (selection wise) than that one. He'll drop him like a hot potato for this semi, especially with it being a good team like City. If it had been Stoke Robles may have stood a chance as we can easily out gun them over two legs but City will require different tactics and it's going to be backs to the wall for large parts, and he'll want players he knows he can rely on.

Am I the only one in this thread that would prefer Robles over Howard who I think is the worst gk in the prem right now.

If he wants to put out his strongest 11 he needs to make sure Howard is bombed out. Robles is a far superior keeper and will keep his place (and rightly so).

Jonesy your new here so let me give you some advice that serves everyone on here well, it's kind of one of those 'unofficial' rules everyone follows.

If you opinion matches up with @Saint Domingo you're badly wrong and you need to punch yourself in the side of the head until clarity and sense returns.

No. Howard would be a disaster v City as he showed in the league game this season.

@Dithering Dougie is looking for some new followers. He went on a fishing trip recently and it didn't go too well for him so he's looking for some new friends as only his multis showed up.

Make your own opinion, change your mind when you want, don't be afraid to challenge the perceived wisdoms surrounding a midtable outfit. Don't let this place grind you down.

We all know Howard is awful. Another clean sheet for Robles Wednesday.

Howard should be sold to gypsies.
