Roberto Martinez discussion

I talked to you about it in person in the following league game and I could have kickstarted the industrial revoloution off the steam coming out of your ears.

I didn't "hate" him for it though

I was annoyed, but weren't we all to go out of the cup?

And hey, you wouldn't catch him doing that now I think

Again, he's been much more of a team player since he came back and I'm the first to admit it

pretty much nail head there old bean. Macca going off didn't help tbf.

If a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well, you either...

keep on going at them, turn 2-0 into 3,4,5... or at least keep the initiative you had in the 1st half, do your tippy tappy on the edge of their box rather than the edge of ours
or
learn to do 451 (or whatever) properly if you do decide to 'defend' the lead.
I do think it was due to us laying off, but it wasn't a tactical shift, it was the players failing to maintain focus. That sort of thing happens when half your squad is roughly 21 years old... it'll get better but there's no reason to put every small thing down to Martinez.

I'll be honest, I wanted him out last season. We were on the slide and looked like we had no way out of it.

But theres not really been a point this season where I was worried we are going to get relegated. And I understand that we have a REALLY special group of HUGELY talented young players who could do something amazing if they are able to stay together for a few years. What worries me is if we dont do something fast, they wont stay. And we are back to square 1.

That is why the fume after Bournemouth wasnt because we'd thrown away a lead, it was because it is another example indicative of this Everton side of us failing to take this opportunity. Chelsea are struggling, top 4 is not a lock out, Liverpool in transition, and we have four world class players fit and in form who would be glad to stay if we can give them anything tangible. Progression to the league cup semi is great but I honestly feel anything short of winning it won't be enough. We also need to ally it with a good league position. Again these are not my minimum expectations, it is the reality of our position. I've already said I'd give a manager between 3-5 seasons dependent on progress. The modern superstar players however are not that patient.
.
I started writing the above the quote three days ago. That's my thoughts above. It's not 'screw this, Martinez out' it's more 'dammit, we NEED to win these matches'.
