Roberto Martinez discussion

I think this level of wonderment is premature. Sides in mid-table are going to outclass the teams at the bottom, and they themselves will be outclassed by the teams at the top. Our performances so far this season are indicating a mid-table finish, which is what is expected of us. The teams at the bottom are being outclassed by everyone.

What utter drivel

Bottom sides are forever taking points from teams in the top 8

Villa drew with City yet we smashed them 4-0

Arsenal drew with Sunderland we smashed them 6-3

WBA beat Arsenal we beat them 3-2

Get in the bin, put the lid on and put yourself outside for Tuesday collection

There's no need for twenty pages to be spawned for an away draw in the manager thread.

It is like many of you have invested in wanting him out so any opportunity gives you a the chance to magnify adversity.

He's building a very talented young team. Will it be enough? Who knows, the competition is as fierce as it's ever been with the money in he game. What's the alternative though? Are we getting game changing money to spend more than our competitors?

So the only option is to build a young hungry team that can grow. Such teams are inconsistent and prone to poor results here and there. Yesterday was one of them.

If you can't see the potential in this Everton team and a manager trying his best to realise it then I think you're being unkind and unrealistic. You're also playing into the stereotype of the entitled modern day fan who critiques their club's manager based on video game prowess or unnecessary ego.

Not Everton, that. Most neutrals looking on in this thread would be amazed by some of your reactions. You didn't want him in the first place, it's ok we get it.

Absolutely spot on mate and the Spanish tit has my backing 73% until we get knocked out on Tuesday due to him fielding Osman and his 10 children.

He's got more right than he's got wrong this season, yesterday was one if those days he got wrong. No accounting for your players not being smart enough to absolutely kill the game once we got the lifeline of the 3rd goal. Piss poor that from the players imo.

Like you mentioned, there's a lot of potential in this squad, personally I think if we aren't pushing for 3rd or 4th it's been disappointing. I know folk may laugh at me for that but I think we have about 5-6 players that would probably walk into any of the sides above and around us. That potential needs to be realised right now before it gets broken up and we have to start again. Martinez has to get the best out of them immediately and get a balance which was perfect first half yesterday until we decided to sit off.

Anyone thinking finishing 6th-10th is acceptable with a team including the likes of

Coleman
Baines
Stones
Barkley
Deulofeu
Lukaku

Needs to realise that's probably the best core of players we've had in years and they need to be delivering the goods.

Boberto does my head in a lot of the time with his overly positive Melinda Messenger type chatting crap and life is glorious BUT he's got it right there in front of him to win us a trophy and he himself will go down in folklore. He can chat as much bubbles as he wants then as far as I'm concerned.

Yer city certainly outclassed villa the other week

And we outclassed the mighty Bournemouth yesterday. The point being that outclassing a Villa side that will have 5 points at the start of December, and a Sunderland side that will be fighting against relegation all season is exactly what is expected to happen. We expect to get beat against the top four, and that's exactly what has happened so far this season. We need to start beating the top and middle sides before we start getting hardons about outclassing opposition teams.

You said mid table sides outclass the bottom ones and the top ones outclass the mid table ones

They don't

Get in the bin

A fair point. Results like yesterday should temper expectation and remind us that the exciting young team has some distance to go.

Hope we get the chance for the team to realise their potential though.
Probably my biggest fear with this team that we'll lose players like stones and lukaku to the big spenders and have to start all over again. If we can keep them and continue to add quality players we'll be right in the mix in the next few years.

So finishing 6th is a poor season

Arsenal are playing Sunderland next weekend mate, and we beat Sunderland 6-2.

Get in the bin

But they do. On a regular basis. Which results in the mid-table teams finishing above the bottom clubs, and the top placed clubs finishing above the middle clubs. Which is exactly what will happen this season.

You might be fulsome in praise for both. However you never question/accept that Martinez is at fault for 'certain' things. My worry is he's too nicey nice in the dressing room. At two nill up, away from home, knowing we have a bottle job in us, you get in their faces you make sure the level of play on the field doesn't drop. You get your experienced players in Barry & Howard to set the example and make sure the younger talenT know whats expected. Both were anoyomus. If we had Jags playing I'm confident we would have seen that game out at 2-1.
We must do a job on Middlesbrough, I think moral will be at an all time low, be interesting to see how our youngster and more so Martinez react.
You cant be serious?

Unbeaten in 5 games and scoring 15 goals in that period!! Morale at an all time low?

Pfffft!

This squad we have now is the best squad we've had in quite some time, losing arteta fellaini and rodwell recently didn't bother me quite as much as possibly losing the players I've mentioned.

I want this team to remain intact as i believe it is good enough to challenge in the near future, i never really thought that about moyes sides.

You raise a fantastic point mate: just how tremendous was Melinda Messenger and her chebs?

I was too stoned to truly appreciate the delight of Melinda Messenger back then. By the time I had woken from my slumber she just came across as an annoying cow. Shame that.

My wife was once stuck behind her whilst she was doing a piece to camera on the big one in Blackpool. For continuity the same people sat behind her had to stay in the carts. She kept ballsing up her lines so they had to stay on it about 4-5 times. Missus said everyone was calling her for everything by the end of it.

Yes but us losing good players to big teams is always going to happen
