Everton manager Roberto Martinez says he is not worried about his future and that the team must "face adversity in an exemplary way".

The Toffees, who have not won in seven Premier League games, lost 4-0 at Liverpool on Wednesday, a result Martinez described as "horrific".

His side face Manchester United in Saturday's Wembley FA Cup semi-final.

He said: "I wouldn't be professional if I was wasting my time talking about what people think about the manager."

He added: "When you get bad results you will face scrutiny. We don't accept mediocrity and are not happy with our performances in the league."

Everton must 'repair the hurt'
Spaniard Martinez, 42, has faced growing hostility from Everton supporters in recent matches after a series of disappointing performances.

Last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Southampton ensured this will be the club's worst season at home in their 138-year history. They have managed only 17 points at Goodison Park with eight defeats, five draws and four wins.

Martinez said he is not thinking about the league form and is focused on Saturday's game, which will be shown live on BBC One and the BBC Sport website (kick-off 17:15 BST).

He added: "Since the quarter-final against Chelsea the results have not been good enough and that's something we will look at next week.

"At the moment everything's about being together in the FA Cup semi-final."

Asked whether there was a sense of dejection after the Merseyside derby, he said: "I wouldn't use the word dejection. We carry hurt.

"We need to forget about the league. We have put in strong work for 10 months and want to repair the hurt everyone at the club is feeling, from the fans to the players."

Now the big question of the day... what about your future, Roberto?

"I wouldn't be professional if I was wasting my time talking about what people think about the manager," he says. "The turnaround in games has been quick. We have been working very, very hard to be at Wembley and challenge for silverware."

Evaded wonderfully by the Catalan.

Get out of Everton Football Club, take your bff Kenwright with you and go **** yourselves. Self righteous, big headed delusional ****.

lol

Top marks moomin haha

Well I am taking comfort in the fact that we are now witnessing Martinez`s last days.

Moshiri hopefully has someone lined up who will pick up the carnage Martinez, the relegation specialist has left behind.

Firstly try to convince players to stay, and hopefully over the last two games give them some self belief, something
that has been destroyed under Martinez. The whole team has been dragged down with Martinez and his stupid, flawed, Wigan
philosophy and ethics.

I cant believe the board have let this pub team manager destroy this squad, Stones, Coleman half the players they were
since Martinez took over.

We really need to get our next managerial appointment right, he has to repair the damage, convince players of a bright future and spend wisely
I would start with a team bonding exercise over a few beers where players can vent about Martinez and the most absurd thing he instructed them to do, I would also introduce a swear box a £1 for every time a player says ` phenomenal`

Saying in the Daily Fibber (for what it's worth) the powers that be at GP, not very impressed with Jon Woods leaving his seat early at the Pit on Wednesday.

Hopefully Mr Moshiri will act asap. Should get shut of Martinez long time ago and let the new manager has time to prepare for the semi. Oh well maybe the right guy is not available now.

You have to admire his balls and how hard faced he was when that interviewer asked " How do you feel when the majority of fans don't want you to lead the team out tomorrow? "

His reply " Well, how many of them fans have managed a team to win the FA cup? I can tell you, it's none!!! "

He knows how to upset people, I'll give him that

How many of those same fans have relegated a prem team ...... thats none also Martinez you buffoon
