And that is the essence of the motto distilled right there. You either get it, buy into, believe it, or you don't. For those that do, the state of the club today is a spectre, reminding us just what Everton used to be and what it stands for.

For those that don't, maybe they are realists and it's delusional to think we can achieve those days again. Personally I'd take standing by something you believe in and fighting for it, rather than abjectly surrendering. That kind of defeatism runs rank through the very core of this club presently. Apologies to the mods for the language but feck that, let's get some people in who would with pride, bleed blue for Everton.

Koeman showed a change of tact last night which is good, and hopefully continues.

The club is poisoned by a losing mentality from top to bottom, which I think is the main problem. Not a clue how you could fix that though, it’s so ingrained.

My sentiments exactly. It's been like that for years. I remember a certain former captain of ours saying how extraordinary it was for a club like Everton to have finished in the top 10.
