Think we're long past failing tbh, and into failed. He's turned his back on the club, refused to sign a contract, bolloxed up a move in bizarre, embarassing fashion, and is now on gardening leave with a 3 month pulled hamstring. And you're asking how is he failing?

In theory I'd like to have seen him become someone who can play both ways, with and without the ball, wearing the royal blue jersey - same as most people probably. Match winning-talent on the ball, but for 90 minutes, 38 games a season. But that ship has sailed.
Not even De Bruyne/Hazard does that.

He is what he is: a very good player who can on occasion grab a game by the scruff of the neck and make the difference. And in that he stands out a mile from this Everton team.
