What exactly are you expecting to see off Barkley? How is he "failing"? Give some details...

Think we're long past failing tbh, and into failed. He's turned his back on the club, refused to sign a contract, bolloxed up a move in bizarre, embarassing fashion, and is now on gardening leave with a 3 month pulled hamstring. And you're asking how is he failing?

In theory I'd like to have seen him become someone who can play both ways, with and without the ball, wearing the royal blue jersey - same as most people probably. Match winning-talent on the ball, but for 90 minutes, 38 games a season. But that ship has sailed.

Koeman showed a change of tact last night which is good, and hopefully continues.

The club is poisoned by a losing mentality from top to bottom, which I think is the main problem. Not a clue how you could fix that though, it’s so ingrained.

And those players we bought this season with the exception of about two are really, really bad at football

Wasn't referring to a season as such, more to managers/regimes which promised "a new future" for EFC and then produced the square root of FA. was it 1993/4 when we went until Nov without a win until a home 1-0 victory v WHU? that was pretty awful.. (think one G Ablett scored in the Park End)
